Re: Mississauga vs Toronto Marathon (May)
I ran toronto once and mississauga full 3 times (along with the half many times!). I prefer Mississaga over Toronto for one main reason....when the full marathoners are down running on the Martin goodman path at about the 27-28 km mark you run right by the finish and get to hear and see all the half...

Re: Marathon Sunday
Congrats to all those who had a great race today. Unfortunately not great for those of us cheering in front of the incident in Hamilton today. My thoughts go out to his family.

Re: Philly M...19 weeks and counting!
Thanks for the encouragement and tips. Jenn, the book has 4 hr, 4:10 and 4:25. The paces for 4:10 have the long runs between 6:23 and 6:32 which I already do. Then the 4 hr has them between a 5:41 and 6....So big difference! I figured I would use them as a guide but it is unlikely that I will hit th...

Philly M...19 weeks and counting!
Yikes! I'm trying to figure out a training program...although in the past I have never really stuck to one other than the obligatory long runs. This time will be different lol! I have the FIRST (run less, run faster) book which I will try to follow, the 4 hour finish program...although the paces loo...

Re: Mississauga Marathon - Anyone ??
I signed up last week to run the half marathon. After a winter of injury and little to know running and a dismal performance at the Chilly half I needed another spring half to somewhat redeem myself. It still will not be a PB, but it should be a much more enjoyable race. Let's just hope the weather ...

Re: Question about Calf Strain
Thanks Andy...it is the inner gastrocnemius and each day I am feeling improvements so it must have been a more minor tear. I am thinking of tapping for the run and/or using a compression sleeve. I just didn't know how effective they really are. I hear your warning too...I don't want to push it and e...

Re: Question about Calf Strain
Thanks Jen, that's what I thought....give it time (which I don't have much of LOL) I can walk without pain now but when I push off from the ball of my foot and can "feel" it. The swelling is all pretty much gone. My back up plan is to walk some of it and have my daughter run some of it. As...

Question about Calf Strain
I need some advice from you all... I strained my calf on Sunday play racing with my niece. It was very painful so I went to the ER and they said nothing torn, achillies is fine but it could take 5-7 days or even a couple of weeks for a calf strain to resolve. I was icing the first 24 hours, now I am...

It is amazing how much sleep affects your daily life. As a person who struggles with insomnia, I can relate!
My mom and cousin both have the CPAP machine and it totally changed their lives. I wish you many a well rested night, and look forward to seeing your running posts

I'm going to the track tonight with a running group to do speed work. I have no idea what this will entail...but I am scared :help: I believe we will to a 1 mile time trial, then 400 m sprints. The leader is working out target times for us...I hope he is kind to me!!! I also did 1 hour weight traini...
