Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I was so happy to read this Smiles! Go B! Things are fantastic here- N is very much a two year old, but in a good way. He is hilarious, happy and smart, and makes our day every day. Running is a bit frustrating at the moment after a minor injury has sidelined me for almost two weeks, after a three w...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Hi ladies! Rockstar, great to hear from you! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and happy holidays in general to everyone. We had an excellent Christmas- N figured out what Santa was all about and was so adorably thrilled. Running wise I had a good start to 2015 with a decent 10K and a 5K pb, but crapp...

Re: Run Commute and Training

Yeah, great job organizing the lunches etc for sure. Wow! You will settle into a routine soon enough. If I were you, I'd make the run to work longer a couple of days a week and do whatever workout I was going to do then. That way your run home can be just to stretch your legs. It kind of sounds like...

Great run today- yes very humid, but better than last week when I was in the treadmill one day after forgetting gloves! 7k done.

Re: Take Time Tuesday

Great run today! 10x400 at 10k effort with a minute in between of running, not walking. The last time I did this workout, I did 8, and I did them at 6:57/mile pace, and this time I did 10 at 6:53 and felt very strong. I appreciated a lot of good things today, the run being one of them. I had a works...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

We're great too! N is so funny, so cute, and so much fun. He's signed up for the 200m Wee Lads and Lassies run at the Perth Kilt run, and I have NO concerns about him completing it! He's been insisting on walking to the park pretty much all the way the last few times (just over 400m). He has a cute ...

Re: Continuing to do things you aren't good at...

I think in general, most people tend to enjoy doing things that they're good at, and/or things at which they can see progress as they learn and practice. If someone perceives that they are not good at something, there has to be some motivation to continue. Do they want to get better? Do they care en...

Re: Huffing Puffing Thursday

After five consecutive nights of insomnia, I finally cracked and took a sleeping pill last night. A good night of sleep felt amazing, but I was predictably a bit groggy this morning. I had an interval workout scheduled, which I got through, and it actually felt fairly solid. I was definitely conserv...

Totally... I've always run way better with him pacing me. Oh well, I'll have to suck it up! Lol. I'm a bit tougher than I used to be. ;)

Re: Toronto Yonge Street 10K or Sporting Life 10K

Well it's not an issue anyway- the girl from CRS said he'd have to start at the back, so obviously Pat sprinting through the crowd with the stroller to catch up with me is not safe in any way. Once the race gets going, it's actually not too crowded at the front, and I honestly don't think it would'v...

Re: Bread Machines

That's pretty much what we've been doing. We will occasionally buy a loaf of bread when it's on sale and stick it in the freezer in case we're caught out, but 95% of the time we eat the homemade. It works really well!

Re: Soggy Saturday

Good job all, esp NMG. :) I was planning to do a race this morning! I had seen one mentioned that was to take place on the waterfront, but when we got down there, we saw no sign of any runners or a race. Boooo, I guess it was only tentatively planned, or maybe cancelled. Anyway, I did a 5k time tria...

Toronto Young Street 10K or Sporting Life 10K

I signed up for the TYS 10k today! Pat may run it with me to pace me, depending on whether he can start with me (he'll run with the stroller). They do have a stroller entry category, but they specify that strollers start at the back. To me, it makes sense that it would be safer for him to start fart...

Re: Toronto Young Street 10K or Sporting Life 10K

I am doing the Yonge St one just because of the timing- I plan to run a half on May 3. Otherwise I normally choose sporting life because $20 goes to Camp Ooch for kids with cancer. Canada Running Series, who runs the TYS, does a stellar job. Sporting Life tends to have a few more slight hiccups, and...
