Re: Lanni Marchant: New Canadian women's marathon record!
This is awesome! While there are still ways to go before Canadian women can contend to win one of the top marathons, it is huge step in the right direction.

Gabby's Half-Marathon
Anybody in Toronto knows anything about this race? Apparently, you stop at five Gabby's along the course and have to drink half a pint at each stop. I heard about this race for the first time from a colleague today.

Hello from a returning member
Welcome back Ray!
These days, I am more of a lurker, but I am still around.
In my case, a third trip to Boston is unlikely. The wonky hip doesn't want to give me a real break. Hopefully, you will have more luck.

Running in San Diego
At the end, there is awesome running near my hotel. It seems to be an awesome running city. Lots of runners and footpaths along the Marina, which works perfectly to me.

Running in San Diego
We are going to San Diego for a week around New Year's Day. We are staying near the Convention Centre. Any suggestions for running routes under 10k?

Storm's father happened to teach math and science to my oldest daughter in grade 7 and 8. Totally awesome teacher! Very caring, dedicated to foster the love of learning first and foremost, non-conventional, not afraid of his convictions. Do I agree with he and his wife's approach about Storm's gende...

Re: New to Toronto
There is a track at the back of the former West Toronto Commercial (?) School on Lansdowne near Dundas and College. I use this track when I want to do speed work. It is 400m and in decent shape.

Re: New to Toronto
Welcome to Toronto! I live near High Park Boulevard and Parkside, so we are almost neighbours. Not much else to add to the previous post. I run in almost any kind of weather, and I really enjoy winter running. Only loads of ice and snow stop me because I tend to get injured. Another great area for r...

Re: Vibram Five Fingers in the Winter
I actually have a pair of the VFF Surge (don't make them any more). Add some toe socks and it's time to play http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_vC3KpJy4V9g/SyWYEZpDMAI/AAAAAAAAA1I/GyQi2-3_sU8/s1600/surgerf2.jpg Seriously, these look cool. But since the idea is to have a minimalist shoe, they would defeat th...

Vibram Five Fingers in the Winter
I bought some Vibram Five Fingers KSO last summer for walking around and cross training. I really love them, but they are not made to use in the winter. They are made of a thin mesh fabric, and the sole has no grooves to walk in snow. Has anyone tried using VFF (any model) in the winter? What model ...

I have an easy run schedule for tomorrow. I will definitively hit the trails for this one.

Trackpad or flat routes in North Vancouver
Thanks everyone for your input. According to our friends' son there is a dirt track around the football field at Windsor Secondary. This should do the trick for tomorrow's run. I want to run on terrain that mimics the flat Toronto Waterfront Trail where i usually run my temo runs.

Like the last few years, the city is clearing the Martin Goodman Trail from the Humber bridge to Coronation Park (I haven't been further east).
