Re: 2013 Army Run

Life got in the way and I forgot to sign up for this race, despite talking about it for months

The Army Run website stated it was sold old when I clicked the link to register, but I managed to register through the Running Room website.

I feel dumb...

Re: Am I a bandit? (race etiquette question)

Just thought I'd post a followup, I ended up asking DH to walk with us at the end, (due to ongoing stroller saga issues). I felt bad, but didn't want to drop out and didn't want to handle a screaming baby the whole way all by myself. It was a smart move in the end, as baby was wailing in his strolle...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Yeah I've heard that too, that if you're going to get them you're going to get them. I'm OK so far, no marks yet, but if the products may help at ALL down the road, I figure it's worth a shot! And yes, I'm very itchy right now too- my skin seems dry everywhere. I'm going through cocoa butter like i...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

failed is a strong word. ;) attachement parenting has MANY more meanings that just wearing your baby. :) Thanks , you're right I know. :D But I must be the only momma I know who actually wanted to bedshare, only to end up with a baby that absolutely hates sleeping in the bed with mom and dad.

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

ah, poor munchkin. :( I don't have a parent facing stoller, so, I can't help..... I assume you've tried attaching toys, loosening straps, doing a bunch of things? Yes, tried them all. He gets too worked up to even notice. He does do slightly better inside , like in a mall, but he has to have a lot ...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

First of all, congrats Quick Chick! I look forward to reading about your progress! :D So I need a favour and I'm turning to the RM's for suggestions. I'm an "old" mama. All my friends are done having babies, and out of the stroller stage. They aren't much help. My baby hates riding in a s...

Re: Am I a bandit? (race etiquette question)

Most races say no to strollers, bikes, animals as they impede other runners. Check with the rules about that. edit, from their site: All participants must register for the race. Only children being pushed in strollers do not have to register. Hmm, I must have missed that statement. I did check the ...

Am I a bandit? (race etiquette question)

So I signed my son up for the 2 k at Ottawa Race Weekend, but didn't sign myself up. I will be walking with him in a stroller (he will be 5 months at the time), assuming he will be able to tolerate the the noise/crowds of course  So does that make me a bandit? I don't recall if there was a fam...

And yes IG- that one (or sometimes two) days a week is amazing! :)

9 pm is way past my bedtime these days - I am in bed by 8 some nights!!

You Maniac momma's are awesome :D I think that the one thing I love most about being a part of a running community is the amount of support runners give each other, regardless of ability and experience. :YMHUG: Today was my first Sunday run with the Running Room Learn to run clinic, which I thought...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Sigh. I'm back in the saddle again. Started Learn to Run last night with Running Room and those one minute runs were harder than I thought  Now I'm angry at myself for completely letting what little fitness I had go down the drain just because I got pregnant. On the bright side I did find a u...

Thanks - I'll go check it out if I'm out in the East end :D

Oops - sold yesterday. It was the CE not the SE. Since it appears that these babies have such a high resale value, I'll probably stick to buying a new one :D

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

We have the baby jogger which is great for running, but if I were to do it again, I would probably get the bob as it seems more versatile. My running stroller is only good for running - it doesn't fold down so it doesn't fit into the car nicely. It was a gift so I'm glad that I have it, but I would...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

But having a running stroller gives you the OPTION to go out with baby, even if it isn't your favourite thing. Bob all the way over here. It's been our only stroller and I love it. We used it for everything. (except for vacation, we did buy a $15 cheapo for that 'cause the bob took up too much room...

Hi everyone! Just was browsing this thread looking at advice on running strollers :-H

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't run in over 2 years
LO is now 9 weeks old and I've signed him up for ORW 2k and I'm so excited.
Now I'm off to research strollers!

Re: Canada Day Races / Race Kit -- Kanata / Ottawa

I got my stuff tonight too. Honestly I was disappointed about the blue shirt and they did smell similar to burnt tires. I had to put it in the boot of the car as it was giving me a headache ~ but the graphics were cute and it was cool to see the run club logo on the front of the shirt. I'm glad I'm...
