Team Sky, British Cycling in doping trouble

There's been something fishy there from when Wiggins climbed his big old butt up mountains with the featherweight little dudes... Track cycling at the Olympics was fishy too. Glad something is finally coming to light.... maybe. First few drips. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/new-details-emerge-abou...

Re: Too many races ?

For trails, the demand is still outweighing the supply. Races are filled and sold out months in advance and as a result the prices have ballooned. That is a different problem from what he's describing, but it frustrates me. :/ Why is that? Not enough RDs willing to set up races, or are the Conserva...

Yeah exactly. It's like asking if there are too many restaurants - if there are today, there won't be in a few months. The market will decide which are viable.

Re: Vulture Bait 2017

Aaaanyway enough about me... :) The race itself was really great. Course was tougher than I had remembered, though - definitely needed trail shoes, especially in the wet. I had it in my head that the first ~6km was pretty representative of the first half, but it really isn't - it's easy and mostly d...

Re: Vulture Bait 2017

In short, I don't think it's heart condition related - was checked out by paramedics at race finish due to paranoia, but all normal. Ran yesterday, all was fine, heart was fine, responded normally to increases and decreases in pace. Suspect a combination of humidity and lack of sleep, maybe f...

Re: Vulture Bait 2017

Suckage Just curious, if you had not known what your actual heart rate was during the race, just known that you felt you were working to hard do you think you would have gotten as scared? Probably! I was really hitting a wall every time I'd try any kind of exertion, so it would have still been clea...

I DNF'd. I don't know what went wrong - just felt completely off, barely managed 25km, let alone 50km! Heart rate was going bonkers and crashed completely. More blah blah blah here if anyone's interested: http://www.marshmallowman2ironman.com/2017/10/race-report-vulture-bait-50km-trail-run.html Too ...

I checked it out - loops a'plenty, eh? :) Forecast for Saturday going a bit sideways... http://weather.gc.ca/city/pages/on-137_metric_e.html At the moment it's saying high of +19C and sunny. :help: I can't deal with that kind of heat for 50k....

Anyone else doing it? I'm in for 50k... not sure what I was thinking (but it went something like "I'll lose a bunch of weight and will be in great shape for this, it'll be awesome!"). Pretty nervous about the temps! +26C this Saturday - what's going on . :? Hoping for single-digit highs ne...

How'd it go?? I went for a 15k run early morning thinking I'd beat the heat - I didn't. Even at +18C in the a.m. sun it was so hot, steamy. Was thinking of y'all. :)

Re: Montreal marathon cancelled...

Toronto Waterfront Marathon used to be end of September... they had some gross hot sticky ones before they moved to the old Toronto Marathon timeslot (late October).

It's a risky time of year for a marathon in these parts.

Re: Montreal marathon cancelled...

For people who are traveling to the event, they'd want to be notified ASAP while there's still time to change their travel plans. Remember what happened in NYC in 2012 after Hurricane Sandy when they waited until late Friday to cancel (and everyone had already traveled to NYC). There are worse thin...

Tightening up my shoes helped, even without fancy laces. I like loose shoes but I guess for downhill it isn't the right way to go. :?

Re: Shoe Lace Tying... Whaaaat

Do people really tie their shoes that tightly? I like to wear mine loosely, leaving just enough lace to tie double knots. If I don't do the heal lock I often get blisters because my heels slip up and down. I got around that by using double-layer socks... I like my laces loose, otherwise I seem to g...

Re: Banff Trail Running - any suggestions?

I did the Sulphur Mountain loop. It was tough. I ran maaaaybe 15% of it on the way up, rest was a fast hiking pace. The way down killed my quads, couldn't believe how hard that was actually! But it was beautiful and cool. Oh and by cool I mean literally cool - there was ice on the walkways at the t...
