anners- excellent work on the weight loss and have a great trip! JLA- so jealous here. The kid doesn't need expensive clothes; I vote spend it all on yourself! Kristi- so sorry about your stressful week. I hope Alex is on the mend and that you can all rest. I really struggle with determining what's ...

Here's a link to another study of percentages of people that could register at each time (-20, -10, -5).

Re: Boston Marathon qualifying articles
Does anyone know what percentage of this year's runners (or any past year) fell into each of the registration waves (-20 min, -10min, -5min)? I was getting closer to qualifying and now it's further out of reach. One moment I was so looking forward to was running that last mile (or block, depending h...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
LadyJ, he is one good looking valentine! Kiza, that sounds like an excellent plan. How are you adjusting to the two kids (plus two more)? As far as me, I will run the reservoir tomorrow (about 10 miles). Hopefully it's not too icy on the uphills as I'll have the stroller. In other news, I'm getting ...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Way to go anners and the shorties running up to their VB's! We would have to have some serious snow for me to have that problem, so hats off to you guys! Running on the treadmill is going well when outside is too complicated. Although is seems hard and the pace seems faster than it should. I'm regis...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
I started walking a few weeks after having Isla. Nothing serious, just getting outside. I didn't start running until after my 6 week appt. I was being cautious and I also wanted to deflate a bit before all the jiggly bits were subjected to a run. After running for fun for maybe 6 weeks, I started bu...

I think races like this could be the great equalizer. I bet no amount of running could make me fast enough to beat some serious eaters!

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
trust me, your back is happy you didn't  . It's BIG - I have to flip it sideways to get it out the front door, then trundle it down the steps to the sidewalk, then load the kids into it. I'm not sure if all double joggers are that wide, but this one sure is. It is smooth, though. Hammie, I can...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
I try to run during Isla's nap time. But then I have to make it a pretty long run and the terrain needs to be smooth as the stroller really bumps along the snowy trails (she'll sleep in it but wake when we get home). To shower, I put her in our bathroom and she climbs all over and bangs on the showe...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Some more things I love about the Chariot: - can buy a single or a double (ours is a double) - has an infant sling you can buy (see photo)-- we used it from 6 pounds plus for walks, then runs - has adjustable shocks for different weights - comes with bug, wind and sun shields - has a fixed front whe...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Breeze, I trained for a marathon pushing my Chariot for almost all my training. It is excellent. I chose it because it can convert to a bike trailer, cross country ski trailer, etc. I love the Chariot-- worth every penny. I really can't speak to any other jogger; I only looked at those online.

You know it's icy when you're aiming for the dog poo, not away from it! 8.5 miles done, 1 wipeout, 2 days till the treadmill arrives!

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Ladies, many of you are pregnant or newer moms than me, so let me be the voice of reason: celery is NOT food! Big Macs, candy and chips, now those are pregnancy foods! Remind me again how my face got so inflated... Went running today. Pushed the stroller a mile on my favorite path through the snow t...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
http://www.nordictrack.ca/ We bought our treadmill from here last year. Also 50% off. We're very happy with it. Seems super-sturdy and no problems with it. Be prepared when they deliver it - they will deliver it to the driveway and that's it. So we had this giant, heavy treadmill, still seriously p...

anners- congrats on the size 6! Are they running skirts or regular skirts? If they're for running, let us know how they work out. As for the flight, please let me know. We have a friend in Japan who we'd like to visit sometime this year (before Isla's two). The longest flight we did was Vancouver-Ha...

Scrummy- I don't know much about giving birth; I've only done it once. I went straight from work to the hospital to give birth (pre-eclampsia, too). In light of that experience, I vote to install your carseat and pack your bag stat. When are you due? I also wished that I had done a little reading on...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
http://www.nordictrack.ca/ I bought the Commercial 1500. It has good reviews, from what I could tell. I don't expect it to be as good maybe as a Precor or whatever, but I didn't pay $3000 either. I'm a tall (and heavier) person, and I hope it does the trick. The crappy thing about it is that you ca...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Pts- I was searching RM for treadmill tips, and all I could find was your threads yearning for one! So I read all those threads and ignored all the advice! I bought a Nordictrack one (on 50% off) that has good reviews. It comes by the end of next week. I got all excited because you can program it to...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...
Confession: I just bought a treadmill. I have run outside every year, training for spring marathons, etc. But this year has been hard. Mostly the fact that people don't shovel has made it hard-- too hard to push a stroller through snowbanks while running! So I eagerly await the arrival of my new tre...
