Excellent, see you there!

Re: PSA: Free Nike 10K run (Toronto)

You definitely won't be the only creepy guy ;). About half the run leaders are men and I do know of many men who have already registered, so you won't be the only one (but you will be in the minority). The registration form does ask if the registrant is male/female, but I'm not sure what that means ...

PSA: Free Nike 10K run (Toronto)

Just sharing an event notice with you* - the Nike 10K run in Toronto. The run is a free event but you will still get the usual race swag and post race perks (note, this is a low key run and not a formal chip-timed race). The event is geared to women, but men are also welcome/encouraged to run. Frida...

Humm, I ran the half (and 10K along the same route before the race) and didn't notice a single protesting senior ... but I often miss spotting happenings along race routes.

Re: Stress Fracture - what does it feel like?

with both of my stress fractures I could pinpoint the exact spot of the fracture on the bone with my fingers (it may take a little exploration the first time since the pain tends to radiate up and down from the fracture, but when you find it you'll know). I could also definitely feel that the pain ...

Re: Nike Lunar Racer 2 and Lunar Elite

A lot of people feel (me included) that the Elites are too high in the ankle. I didn't notice it when I tried them on, but after about 1K of running I could really feel it. I definitely recommend spending time in them before shipping a pair in from the US. I was hoping they could replace my lunar tr...

Re: What fuels your marathons?

My exact answer wasn't in your list of choices. I bring my own gels, but use the race course's water and sports drink. Ditto. Water and gatorade (mouthful of each) every 2 miles/3k or thereabouts, depending on the aid stations. At the aid station closest to 12/22/32K I substitute a gel for the gato...

Re: Picking a marathon race pace

Does anyone consider that an adequate base for beginning marathon training? The real question is what to do now, amp up big or switch to half and try again later? I would tend to agree. Or go at it with really no expectations of time-- if only a small PB or none at all would really be such a disapp...

Re: Where's your running log?

I am lazy and old school. Lazy because I just started keeping a log in 2009. Old school because I use a paper log - a friend gave me a runner's log last Christmas and to my complete surprise I've kept it up. My log consistents of the date and distance/run type. Not pace or weather or shoes or anythi...

The Toronto Marathons - Math Fun?

I am hoping that someone with speedier spreadsheet skills or more time on their hands :) than me can find an answer to this question .... In 2009 how many people ran BOTH the Toronto Waterfront and Toronto marathons (just the full marathon)?

I won't decide till closer to the deadline. I liked the movie, but loved the supplemenatry footage -- I wish the two had been integrated better, but that's because I like geeky details that the movie omitted. In both the movie and his book Ray comes across as a really likeable guy - I'd love to listen to him speak about his experiences.

Congrats! I regret not signing up for that billboard thing, it sounded much more confusing when the woman at the booth explained it (her explanation invovled texting) so I said no thanks. Next time.

Wow, I didn't even make it to the beer tent start line, nevermind setting a PB. I glanced over and my stomach said no thanks, so I listened. Congrats on the race. I too would highly recommend running MCM - I loved it.
