Re: For those wondering about the new Squamish 50 miler

Ellie was leaving the big aid station at the school for the second time as I was heading into it for my first. She was a mere 20km or so ahead of me. People like Ellie Greenwood and these other elites are like science fiction to me.

Re: Squamish50 (21...22...24km?)

I'm not sure I could have handled going up that road a third time!! brutal. Sorry to hear that you missed out on the best finish line goodies. It's a tough course, so I imagine a lot of people were slower than they'd hoped. :/ The first half of my run went great, I was on track to be done in time f...

Re: Squamish50 (21...22...24km?)

I missed you at the finish Holly, I was too slow. The 50 mile course went up that gravel road three times! Here's what you get at the finish when you come in over 13 hours: - no ice cream - empty massage tent - begging the food truck folks to make some noodles - beer garden full of drunk locals - a ...

Re: S! Caps in Canada

Arrived today! I'll be sure to eat some during the Kneeknacker tomorrow, it looks to be a warm one. The second half of the race was steaming hot, and also the first run I've had in the heat since last summer (unlike the rest of N. America, we've had a cold, wet spring/summer). Nobody was used to th...

Sold!
I was hunting around for these a while ago and eventually gave up (like you say, hard to find and high shipping costs) and bought some other salt tabs that I'm not totally happy with. Thanks for the heads up, Spaff.

I saw it at Distance Runwear in Vancouver. Maybe it was a fluke, but he didn't mention that it wasn't going to be available or anything. I love the idea of combining double bottles and a pack instead of a belt.

Re: UltrAspire in Canada

I won a Spry from the Squamish 50, it's pretty awesome. I wore it the other day for a 50k and it was the most comfortable thing ever. I saw somewhere that folks have had success using it with a 1L bladder, I might try that. I also really like the looks of the Kinetic , I was drooling over that in a ...

Awesome, Holly! I won an UltrAspire vest from Squamish 50. That along with the fancy Arc'teryx t-shirt and cheap-o early bird registration fee and I'm making money off this sucker! See you out there in August...

Howdy. Does anyone know where I could get Succeed S!Caps in Vancouver? Or somewhere that I could order them from that doesn't charge $20 shipping? Thanks.

Kneeknacker!

Hello there. The Kneeknacker is a 30 mile trail race in North Vancouver. I got lucky with the lottery again this year, so I wrote about how it went for me last year. This write up is pretty long, kind of like the race itself. Anyway, check it out if you want... Kneeknacker 2011 race report, click he...

Re: News New documentary captures drama of Western States

I saw this last night, it was pretty great. It made me want to go and run a hundred miles. I took my 10 year old, cross-country running son and he left a huge Geoff Roes fan, "Geoff Roes is super humble," said the boy. As far as your own screening, it looks to be pretty easy. The guy that ...

This is screening in Vancouver. Can someone with Facebook (apparently everyone in the world but yours truly...) click the link and share the info? Thanks!

Hey! Where have I been that I missed this? Happy belated RA! Happy belated, me! It was my 43rd birthday and I ran 43km to celebrate. By far my longest road run in years, it made me achy, but happy.

Carry on, back to the present with you all...

New summer 50 miler in Whistler?

Anybody heard about this? Is it true? Details?? This area could use another 50 miler, methinks.

There's a gravel road, Mountain Highway, that goes down if you have time and no inclination to take the gondola. I usually go up the BCMC and halfway down the road, then there's a million awesome trail options to get you back to the parking lot.
