Re: Montreal marathon cancelled...

Read this news last night. I wonder if it might give a slight increase in participation in some of the October marathons in the maritimes this year (PEI, Moncton, Valley Harvest in Wolfville, NS). If this happened to me, I'd be looking for another race, for sure. The maritime temps are usually more ...

Beautiful & sunny day here, too! Spent the morning cheering on my strong & speedy daughter @ a duathlon, and ran the trails with some friends in the afternoon. Days spent outdoors are the best :).

If you haven't seen Krista D's post-race interview, or read her blog post, I recommend you do. It's worth the watch/read. She's a class act - so gracious, honest & such an inspiring role model. As my kids become more and more active in sport, I see how it can bring out the best and worst in a lo...

Re: "The Secret Life of Fat"

I listened to the podcast yesterday on my long run. While I couldn't imagine following her nutritional regime, I didn't find it offensive. It seemed like it took her a long time, and a lot of work, to figure out what worked best for her. I have a friend who shares a similar story. Maybe that's why h...

Cold & wet here - the story of our spring! I did 5 easy miles on the TM this afternoon. I've got an unhappy lower back - maybe my SI joint .... The run was mostly pain free but not 100% :(.

I had a great run, too - also outside & warmer than it's been (about 12 degrees) but not humid :). 18.5 happy miles. I love being able to do my long run before the weekend. It's more relaxing to know no one is at home waiting for me!

Happy Friday :).

Re: Saucony Triumph ISO . . .

I just bought a pair of Triumph ISOs & I'm in love. I've been running in them for about a week. I love how light - but cushionie - they feel. I've been struggling to find the right shoe for about a year & I think they're a keeper. Today's long run will be the final test. I also wear the Kinv...

Have you looked at Team Aquatic or Swim 2000 (both on-line)? My girls are competitive swimmers & I buy most of their suits from Team Aquatic. Good luck & enjoy the swimming! PS. I see that you're from NB. If you're close to Saint John, there's a meet the 27 - 29 at the Aquatic Centre. There'...

Re: How Realistic is a Marathon Negative Split?

I'm getting better w/ the negative/even splitting. I think it has a lot to do w/ experience, or marathon maturity, setting a realistic goal, and practicing MP in training. Of course, factors beyond our control (like weather) also play a part. I've run TO twice - 2013, 2014. There was only a 1 minute...
