This is so awful. I hope everyone on here and their loved ones are all okay. My heart goes out to those in Boston.

ATB race bib up for grabs

PM me. Looking to transfer my bib.

I've been hit with a bad work schedule and bad colds x 2 which has nuked my training this past 1.5 months. Pulling out of ATB. Boo.

Re: Heart Palpitations...do ya get them?

I often seen people who have heart palpitations (I'm in my last year of my general cardiology fellowship). Usually the cause is benign, but they can be a big nuisance. Try to make note of (and avoid) common stressors that trigger them: - caffeine - alcohol - stress - reduced sleep quality/quantity I...

Re: Hacking Thursday

On my run home from work today, I was nearly home and saw a pedestrian coming down the sidewalk in the opposite direction. Being that the clear part of the sidewalk wasn't very wide, I took a tangent to yield the cleared part for them. So I ran diagonally across a grassy (but snow covered) section t...

Re: Gains from just running more (Poll)

I had been making gains for about 8 months with volume. Went from a 1:56 half, to a 1:36 half in about 9 months.

Got injured when I started doing speedwork too often, and when I had started running twice a day.

Re: breathing/running cadence??

You should do some road races if you can run 5k comfortably in 19 minutes. You'd place very well, and the added rush of racing against people will only make you go faster. Breathing rates are different for everyone, depending on what kind of a workout they are doing. I breathe about 1 breath every 7...

Re: Around the Bay Training Schedule

I may be in the same boat as you this year, as I don't plan on doing a full marathon until late 2011. My opinion: If you want to really run it as an "A" race, then consider using a "personal best" type 18-week (starts next week!) marathon training plan. - you could trim shorter r...

Wow! Nicely done on the 6th k! :)

I agree that gradually working back into the speedwork is the way to go. I'm happiest if I only do speed work or intervals once a week.

Day off running today.

Commuted to work via bike today:
1) to keep loose
2) big snow storm predicted tonight - gotta squeeze in 1 last good ride

Might do some light core weights if I'm feeling up to it before bed time.

Luckily it was good peer pressure. Super light. No pain. Feel great after. New PB! :)
