Time Trial for a Half

What is a good 'time trial' for a half marathon - in order to figure out proper training paces.
If you don't want to spend the $$ to do a 5k/10k race, is there a specific workout that you could use to decide your paces training forward?

Re: Barrie Half Marathon 14 Aug 2011

My son and I volunteered and my DH ran the relay. I can't say enough about how smoothly everything ran. (pun intended) The organizers/volunteers/BarrieRoadRunners/Honda - everyone really outdid themselves. Kudos to you all! I heard a rumour about possibly moving the date to April next year - I'm pla...

Re: Injured List

Well, I'm still on the Injured List... for now. I walked for an hour this morning and everything feels okay, so that's gotta be a good sign? We'll see how the ankle feels tomorrow.

How is everyone else doing?

6 kms walking on the treadmill this morning... passed about 50-60 runners from the RR on my way to the Y this morning. Made me smile, but, also extremely envious... LOL. What a gorgeous day for running outdoors. -3C, no wind Hoping my ankle heals before winter ends, so I can get some winter running ...

Re: Injured List

February 1st sounds good to me, Good Luck DB! Thanks. I got my whopping 2K in today. Will you be able to run MB? Just back from a week in Punta Cana, kept active, however, didn't do any running... Back to the Y tomorrow, and will be attempting my first run in quite awhile, feeling nervous about it ...

Re: Double-Double-Down: Poutine

Turned "veggie" many years ago, but I grew up eating Poutine and the best place in my opinion would be any "casse-croute" in rural Quebec. Nothing beats the "crottes" (curds) from Fromage Princesse. Ohhh, and for that matter, if you're wanting something different: a &qu...

Beautiful day at Toronto Goodlife... Hubby juuusst missed qualifying... needed 3:30, ran 3:33. :( He's okay with it, though. Hey, any day you can run is a good day! Hoping to be back at it myself in a few more weeks, the injury should be all better by then. (I hope) Way to go Racers!!! Sylvie

Re: Getaway Sunday

One week of no running so far, pretty sure it's another stress fracture, sooooooo, it's at least another five weeks of no running in my immediate future. Will make a Dr appt and see if I can get an MRI, by the time I get in it'll hopefully show that it's healing. Not much else to do but stay off it....

Up too late last night, out for dinner and a movie to celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary, so I had a good reason to sleep in today. However, it is H-O-T out there, today. 16.2 kms in the books, although very slow pace once again, now having problems with soreness in my achilles and right ankle. ...
