Re: WFH Friday

I am still struggling to get my mileage up since my accident but ran a decent pace 3.5 miles with minimal pain from the knee. It gets a small effusion on it for about 12 hours then back to normal. I am just happy to be running...and outside

I love mine EXCEPT they are the hottest shoes I have ever worn. I wear them for winter running only for that reason.

Re: Pig Day Sunday

You guys are so lucky. I am dying to run. My busted knee now bends and is not swollen. It is sore but not too bad. Orthopedic surgeon says I can cycle and swim so I am going to the gym tomorrow. I also have a fracture in my elbow which is painful but improving. My aim is to start running around Apri...

Yes, I made a claim today. Knee is gross like a giant blue balloon. I also have an injury of the right wrist. Makes it hard to use crutches but I can weight bear in the Zimmer splint. I feel like a slug already!

Re: Here's Wednesday!

Planned a nice long run after work. Tripped on an extension cord at the end of the day and fractured my patella. No running for several months. I guess the hypothermic half is out this year.

Cloudy here in Winnipeg too. Had a lovely 12k run. -3 and very little wind. Walkways are in good shape for the most part.

8k this afternoon to yoga and back. Core work must be paying off...pulled up into a head stand today for the first time in 44 years. Downtown Winnipeg is eerily quiet with the roads blocked off for the Santa Claus parade. Lots of people though.

Re: Slippery Sunday

Dry here in Winnipeg but cold and windy. Had a nice run to yoga and back for 6 miles. Felt inspired and entered the hypothermic half. I hope it is less hypothermic than this year's race was.

Ran to and from yoga today and when I got home my Beat the Blerch virtual race kit had arrived complete with cupcake flavoured lip balm and a squishy blerch toy to work out my stresses and frustrations.

Re: Piriformis Syndrome

In my case, PS is brought on by stress/worry, so if you can work on reducing that (yeah, I know, it's hard  ), that can help, too. Good luck on that for both of us - perhaps a 'beverage' and a gabfest might help.... Also stretch your quads as tight quads makes it a lot worse. I have had this ...

Enjoyable cool rainy Manitoba Marathon. Likely less enjoyable for those doing the full I'm sure. I did the half and it was really starting to come down when I finished. The hot bath after was lovely.

Rest day. It is very cold here today. The Manitoba Marathon usually is the signal for mother nature to flip the heat switch and crank the humidity but not this year. Looks like awesome running weather if it doesn't rain too much.

Picked up a new pair of shoes-Zoom Vomero 7's. I'll take them out for a break in later. Manitoba marathon on sunday but sadly it will be run in my old beat up shoes. My old shoes will be retired to the OR until they are gross then they get thrown out as they are usually toxic waste by that time.

Welcome to Winnipeg.
During the week when I get to PanAm to set up the OR's at 0630 there are people sitting at the door waiting to get in so great advice to get there early!

Winnipeg RCAF 17th Wing Half. I have never run this race without it raining and today was no exception. It was a lovely 18 degree day and drizzle which always tricks me into not drinking enough. I was on track for a faster than normal finish but got a very crampy left calf which slowed me down for t...
