Re: garmin losing route maps?
sporttracks doesn't use the communicator plugin... it's not web-based. I think it still uses the Garmin Communicator plugin. I use Sporttracks, and the other day I uninstalled the plugin as I was having difficulties uploading a workout. I thought it might be a conflict with Garmin Express. When I t...

Re: Ironman forfeits 2.76 million for illegal lottery
This could get interesting. I didn't realize that races charged money for the chance to win entry to a race (naive, I guess). In Canada that would be against the Criminal Code as lottery licenses are usually only issued to Charitable and Religious organisations, not for-profit groups. Also, you have...

Re: old garmin data....
thanks, I'll check it out. Even though I'm using sporttracks to compile it all and back it up, I'm on the trial version so I'm not sure I'll keep it... need to figure out a long-term solution. The trial version is the free version. At the end of the trial it limits the amount of plugins you can run...

Re: old garmin data....
There is a plugin that you can download for Sportstrack that exports to .tcx format. Allows you to possibly get it to another program.

Re: old garmin data....
further investigation reveals that the .logbook is indeed pre-training centre. I had forgotten that there was a different program before that, and sure enough, this file contains my data from 2005 to 2010, which must be when I switched to training centre. Now to figure out how to convert that XML t...

Re: MEC Race Series
For those thinking about the deal, I was in MEC (Halifax) today and they we advertising the package for $50 for five races instead of the $60 online. Check inside the store, you might score a better deal.

Re: MEC Race Series
The regular price is already a good deal but I'm not sure if they do the package deal in other places? They are offering the same deal in Halifax. Five races for $60. In Halifax, one race has a 15km option while two offer the half marathon option. http://events.mec.ca/event/36981/mec-race-series-pa...

Re: Time’s up, barefoot runners. Make way for fat-soled runn
Sunday on the seawall I saw someone wearing something even more odd- it looked like two of the blades that people with prosthetic legs use, but these were attached to shoes (and being used by a person with two full legs). Like jumping stilts? I've seen street magicians and other jerks wear those to...

Re: Running in Stanley Park
Thanks again for the suggestions everyone. I was in Vancouver there at the beginning of the week for the conference. I had a chance to wander (walking) around Stanley Park for the afternoon on Sunday after I arrived. The park is beautiful. I weather was great and I loved how everyone was out with th...

Re: Running in Stanley Park
I visited Vancouver a few years ago, and didn't think twice about running the interior trails. But I'm a guy, and I was pretty ignorant about anybody living in there. There were a lot of people running along the sea wall in the morning. And a few skinny-dippers. Perhaps not asking the question woul...

Re: Running in Stanley Park
You should, indeed, see Stanley Park! There WAS a sexual assault there last week, at about 8:30am, near Lost Lagoon. As far as I know, the suspect has not yet been found, though a sketch of him was released. As unfair as it is, I'd say men likely have a bit less to worry about, but it's always good...

Running in Stanley Park
I am travelling to Vancouver for work for a couple of days in the summer, and everyone says I should go see Stanley Park. I thought I might go for a run in the morning some time. I was wondering how safe is it to run in Stanley Park in the morning hours. I am from the East Coast (Nova Scotia) so I w...

Re: The runners wave?
I always wave and say "good morning" to runners while I am running. I belong to that 30-40 male group and I used to be worried that I was bothering people when I waved (especially the women as they looked like they were in the zone), but I found that when I was debating in my head whether ...

Re: December 6 - Day of running and remembering
My grandmother survived the Halifax Explosion and she lived right down near the waterfront between the two bridges. All of the walls of her house blew outwards so they just walked out.
I will check out the twitter feed. Sounds kind of cool.

Navy 10km Run Coupon (Halifax)
Hey everyone, I didn't notice this posted already so I thought I would pass it along. There is a TeamBuy coupon that I saw for those in the Halifax area. It is for the Navy 10km in August. $15 for an adult (reg price $39) or $7 for kids (reg price $18). Only two days left. http://www.teambuy.ca/hali...

I had to delete my browser cache files to regain access to RM. Might work for you.

Re: February Running Goals
Well since I only ran a total of three times during the month of January, anything will be an improvement.
Since work is really busy right now, I am going to go for a goal of running at least three days each week. This should be doable if I can just get motivated again.

Went for a 4.5 km run at lunch. Actually 6km but I met up with my wife while she was out walking with her coworkers. On the way back to work I was trying to chase down someone wearing an orange t-shirt (maniac?) but it was uphill and I was tired. Where were you running? Halifax? It wasn't me. I did...

Re: Garmin 305 Where do you wear it?
OK, second day with my Garmin. My wrist has an actual bruise next to the knobby bone on top. It wasn't on very tight. I'm just boney. I found that I didn't like the feel of the Garmin when i had it facing out on my wrist because of the flat GPS section sitting on the bone of my wrist. I actually we...
