Prairiekid's Weekend in Fargo
I know I haven't been around much (ok, AT ALL). But I've been really busy with the whole Quit-Job-Sell-House-Travel-World plan. I am posting twice weekly at my blog Go See Run Eat Drink , so please visit me over there. In the mean time, at KBO's request, here's the blog post I did about our weekend ...

Robbie - it was great to meet you in Boston, and I was so glad to read that you achieved your sub-3 hour goal at PEC. I know you were a bit disappointed to have fallen short of that in April, but really you've had a great great year, and you've deserved it all. Take some time to soak it all in, then...

Prairiekid's Racing Anniversary
I know I've been absent from RM for a while now - it just seems like other things have been occupying my online time. Today I wanted to check in though, and report about my run at the CN Tracks of Glory this morning. Back in September of 2003 the CN Tracks of Glory 10k was the first race I ever ran,...

I agree with what Robbie says. My schedules always state a pace range to aim for, Easy is 6:10-5:50/km, Steady is 5:30 - 5:40/km, Threshold Pace is 4:53 - 4:58/km, and so on. If you aim for 4:08 - 4:15/km and hit somewhere in that range, you'll be good. I'd start out aiming for 4:15/km, and speed up...

Congrats Dwayne and volunteers seems like a terrific event! I love the shirt from lulu (on the other thread) Oh, that's just the standard cotton t-shirt, the lulu one's are even better yet :-) There are MORE shirts? I thought those were the Lulu ones. How much will the Lulu ones be? What will they ...

I second everything KBO said, and will add that the prizes were also great, and unexpected (and yes, I actually won something!) (In fact - BRAGGING - I was actually the first woman...) Also the timing was very well done (with help from our Mouse) and the results were available instantly. Excellent j...

Believe me when I say "I know how you feel." I tried to BQ last spring and just didn't have it in me. Luckily, I had a great maniac friend who reminded me that we don't always get what we want the first time out. I came back 6 months later and BQ'ed with almost 5 minutes to spare. Victory on that da...

New York is definitely on my radar for the future. I'm hoping for sub-2:44:59* at the half marathon in June, which is my qualifying time once I turn 40 (in only 9 months). Pam- we know you meant 1:44:59 ;) but just to let you know-- you actually need sub-1:44:00. Unlike Boston, New York doesn't giv...

New York is definitely on my radar for the future. I'm hoping for sub-2:44:59* at the half marathon in June, which is my qualifying time once I turn 40 (in only 9 months). I won't go this fall, but I'd kind of like to maintain a level of training/fitness that would mean I could go back to Boston or ...

eta: Hey, if memory serves, didn't Pam pace you to your previous PB in '06? Maybe you should bring her to Scotland instead of Denis :P :P You should listen to your coach. He knows what he's talking about. We can TOTALLY break five hours in Scotland, and I'm sure I'm not busy that weekend. And congr...

Sheldon, It was nice to meet you, too! And thanks for giving me the right words to describe that course - two hills down, one hill up, repeat. It seems I'm using that a lot these days. And how did you manage this?: ...we got a very cool Hanson-Brooks Distance Project -tshirt for free. I must have sp...

My knees wobbled a bit when I was handed my number. Oh boy, can I relate! Rob - it was great to meet you, and great that it was in Boston, 'cause we were all so pumped to be there. Congratulations on a strong, gutsy PB - in Boston, no less. I have no doubt you'll run sub 3-hours any day now, though...

You really nailed it with this, nicely put: One thing that you have to understand is that Boston is not just about the 26.2 miles of the race. That is just part of it. Boston is the whole experience; the journey to get there, the excitement in the city before and after the race, the stories, the cro...

Jeffrey, It was great to see you again, and greater still that it was in Boston this time! I'll never forget your words of wisdom to me as I was sitting, sniffling, at the finish line of the Manitoba Marathon last June. "Was this your first attempt to qualify?" Well, yes it was. And who did I think ...
