Re: 2014 WDW Marathon Weekend Has Gone Dopey

If like this past year around end of March, early April ... there was 7, 000+ Dopey's this year and will be interesting to see if they will increase the cap and/or how many will return for the Perfectly Dopey designation? It will also be he 10th Anniversarynof the Goofy Challenge, so suspect that t...

Can somebody tell me when 2015 registration is likely to be posted? Dh wants to do the Dopey.

Thanks!

Re: Seriously Sunny Sunday!

Finished the Yonge Street 10K under sunny but cool conditions. It was a great run for me, considering I didn't train enough and have been overcoming an injury. I just love the start of races, all the people, they hype, the horn...

Re: Birthday present for runner

A new medal display might be a good idea since his has gotten rather overloaded this year. I will look into that. Maybe even a nice frame to put his bib and a photo in for the Ottawa marathon since I will be his official photographer. I got him Runners ID last year with his info and the quote "...

Birthday present for runner

This is running related so I will post here. Admins, feel free to move to NRR if necessary. My husband is turning 40 in two weeks. He is an avid runner and has pretty much everything he needs, like the average obsessed runner. What do I get him for his 40th birthday? He is running his first marathon...

Rainy Thursday

I have been MIA for a year, but I am back, so I may as well start the daily thread.

Rainy day here in Guelph, with a high of 23! No running for me today, but I do have my Runners Bootcamp this evening, which is an amazing workout.

Re: I'm doing it - Try a Tri

I have a pretty decent mountain bike that is in great shape, so it looks like I will be okay. And here I was looking to get a new bike and you guys just squashed the story I was going to give my husband  . Now to look into wetsuits! I will be starting my swim training in a lake in one month, a...

Re: I'm doing it - Try a Tri

Thanks Jwolf. I will definitely look into a cyclocross bike after I survive this first tri (read: don't drown in the lake). If I like it then I can see myself doing the Sprint distance.

I'm doing it - Try a Tri

I haven't posted here in forever, but I was drawn back this week following the unfortunate events that we are all too familiar with :( . I haven't been running long distance, well anything past 10K, for the past year due to a range of injuries, so I have decided to give Triathlons a try and hopefull...

Re: OrleansRunner Celebrates in Boston

I can't imagine a more fitting way for a runner to spend her 50th birthday! What an incredible story. I hope you share it with iRun magazine or the RR magazine, because it would be such an inspiration to so many more runners. And yes, I shed a few tears as well :) . Happy belated 50th. Wow, you real...

Re: Piriformis syndrome

Thank you for sharing your experience Ian. I am hoping the new RMT I see tomorrow is a good one, and we can determine the root cause of my pain, so I can decide if I should push it to run in 5 weeks during treatment/recovery. I was doing a speed track session tonight, and I could really feel the pai...

Re: Piriformis syndrome

It is interesting you say disc herniation fe.RMT. I did have lower back problems a few years back, presumably a herniated disc. I have no idea what triggered my (assumed) piriformis. This is something I will definitely bring up to my RMT tomorrow, in case it is a factor that I am unaware of. I reall...

Piriformis syndrome

Does anybody have experience running through piriformis syndrome? I am pretty sure that is what I am dealing with right now, and as my mileage is increasing (training for a half marathon at the end of May), the pain in my butt is increasing. I am icing, heating, anti-inflammatorying, rolling, stretc...

Re: 2012 Boston Marathon Tracking Thread

I see one of my friends finished in 3:52 (phew), and another has been tracked to 30K but nothing after that. Unless he is now walking he should be past 35K. I'm worried.

Congrats to all the Maniacs who have finished so far. Finishing in that heat is a HUGE accomplishment!

Re: 2012 Boston Marathon Tracking Thread

Thanks for all the updates everybody. I don't personally know any Maniacs running, but I am worried about all of them. I have three friends running, and I see one has made it to 40K so far, so that has given me some relief. I'm worried about the 65 year old though. So far he is tracked to 25K. I hop...

Are any of you meeting up afterwards, somewhere in Copps? I will be there meeting my dh after the race, and I'd love to come by and say hello to some Maniacs.
