Re: Slept-in Sunday

5km on some hilly roads at the cottage while everyone else slept. I think the downhills were even worse than the ups!

Re: Seriously Sunny Sunday!

Beautiful conditions in Smiths Falls for the Spring Fling. Did the 5km with my daughter while my son and husband did the 2km (their first ever race!). Not fast by any means, but it was a great day to be outside with the kids. Corey and the gang did a fantastic job organizing once again. Sold my ORW ...

Re: Sunny Saturday

My planned 10km turned into 11.5 in the beautiful sunshine. It's been so long since it felt this nice that I was overdressed and had to leave some layers on the side of the road to pick up on the return of my out and back.

Basic Strength Training Program?

I am training for the half in Ottawa at the end of May and the Higdon program I have says that Monday and Thursday should include strength training. Does anyone have a basic beginner program to follow? I have a stability ball, a couple of resistance bands and some small hand weights at home, but it ...

12km in fantastic sunshine and -3C - I was slightly overdressed. Glad I waited until this afternoon to go out since it was -23 when I got up! Slowly getting back in to running more regularly again and it feels great.

Re: Snowshoe Saturday

3km on snowshoes to pack down a path in the fields behind my house for my daughter to be able to use her skis. The powder was past my knees in places since I was using her snowshoes. Good workout for the quads and it gives her a path so she can get out for a bit. Followed that up with a 3km run on s...

My first run since mid-December was a cold but beautiful one in the bright moonlight and -23C this morning. Only 3K, but at least I got out there!

Just registered for the half. I'm hoping this will provide the motivation I need to get out the door this winter, although I may need to find something else sooner to get me going again for the next few months.

A quick 3km in 17 degree weather this afternoon... How often do you get to say you are overdressed in capris and a long sleeve in November in Ontario???

Re: Waiting Wednesday

Went for a nice 6km with my brother yesterday afternoon. It was cloudy and trying to rain by the time we went out, but warm enough for shorts and tee shirts. A nice little break from all the stuff going on right now and the first time my brother and I have ever run together.

Hockeymom's Army Half

Leading up to this race, I wasn't sure what to expect. Two weeks ago I entered a half as my last long training run before the Army Run and dnf'd. It took a lot out of my confidence, but a beautiful 20k run last weekend made me think that this wouldn't be so bad after all and if all else failed, I kn...

Re: 2012 Army Run: Bunny Brigade Report

Although I didn't run with a bunny, I did use one for motivation. I just kept telling myself that if I slowed down the overly cheery pace bunny just behind me would be close enough to hear again and I really wasn't sure I could handle it. It proved to be a great way to stay at my own pace!

Re: 12th Annual Mark Darroch Half Marathon/5K

Although the weather wasn't great (it was really hot and humid at the start), the rain held off for the run this morning. There was no breeze at all for about the first hour and then the wind picked up right around the time I hit the turnaround. The headwind was nasty coming back!
