Re: Restart Sunday

After a sporadic (at best) winter, I didn't have high hopes for the Yonge St 10k today, but I completely surprised myself with a big PR at 55:25 chip time (previous best was 56:57).

Crazy deals at MEC

I was at MEC on Saturday for things completely unrelated to running, but checked the clearance rack on a whim. Picked up a nice singlet for $5 and a Nike running skirt with a smartwool liner for $12! Not sure what the original price was on the latter, but the bottom layer of the 'reduced' stickers s...

Re: Saturday at the Track

Fun run at the Zoo with my 6-year-old. I was so proud of him! I expected him to run like... well, a 6-year-old (sprints and slow walking at random intervals), but he ran the whole 3 km without stopping. He's planning to wear his medal for the rest of the day.

That's right around the corner from me - but I'll be at the zoo, doing a 3k with my 6-year-old.

Re: Still cold Sunday

A fairly peppy 9k this morning - I think this is the longest distance I've gone since the marathon in Oct. I'm finally starting to enjoy myself again, although this winter is really a drag.

Re: Beatles Sunday thread

About 7.5k with no watch of any kind. I could have so easily skipped it again (snowing, cold, got 4 hours sleep last night), but talking running with a few people last night helped me find my motivation for the first time in weeks. Most enjoyable run of this winter so far.

Re: Yet another frosty Friday

I feel like I'm never going to run outside again at this rate! Okay, not really, but this winter it seems like every time I get into a groove and start getting back on track, we get hit with some combination of heavy snow/ice/polar temps. I just need to suck it up, I know...

Re: Map of where people run in Toronto (and around the world

There's a good point in the comments on the BlogTO post - the routes of major marathons (the commenter notes this re the NYC map) skew the results somewhat.

Seeing the ice, I opted for a 6k walk instead - plus some vigorous shoveling.

Finally got back out today, after a lot of "runs replaced by cross-training" lately. 5k, nothing earth-shattering, but felt good.

Welcome! I'm just about to sign up for the Achilles 5k as well - I've been in a running slump since having a tough slog in my first marathon in the fall. I need a nice brisk 5k to perk my motivation back up!

I felt wimpy about the cold this morning, so went to yoga instead. Tried an Ashtanga class for the first time - it was more of a workout than I expected. Think I'm going to have wicked sore arms for the next day or two.

Spring will be so nice because I have run this winter Imagine had I not run outside how ordinary that first warm spring day would seem Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk Wow. This really resonates with me. I've been using the weather as an excuse to skip a lot of runs lately - doing crosstrainin...

You know it's windy when you run a 7.5k out-and-back with a 4 or 5 minute negative split!

Re: Tae-boxe Tuesday!

These are the times I wish I had a treadmill - this ice is a serious pain. I barely managed to stay upright just walking my son to school this morning, so no running for me. However, I had a challenging yoga class last night (illustrated that I REALLY need to continue with yoga - my flexibility is r...

Re: SUNDAY bluster

Just shy of 5km this morning on a couple of centimetres of grainy, slushy, slippery crap. Even given that I'm just getting back at it after a couple of months of minimal running, that felt way harder than it should have been. Is it spring yet?

Re: Christmas Day!

I haven't run much in the last few weeks, but felt the urge to get out today despite cold temps, lingering ice and the fact that I couldn't find my 'good' hat (aka, the only one that fits well enough to cover my ears). Less than 2km, but it felt good to get out and do something.

Good luck, racers!

No run for me today, but got the day started with 20 minutes of strength & stretching. I'm trying for a rest-of-the-holidays streak of doing minimum 20 minutes of SOMETHING every day.

Re: Santa Shuffle Saturday

I've been really struggling to get back into any kind of running routine, so I decided I was just going to get out for 20 minutes today. And then I decided that if I was only going for 20 minutes, I might as well run faster. 22 minutes at about 10k race pace. After spending most of the year on marat...
