Re: Everyone must be resting this Monday!

Lunchtime 5K here. It was a fun one, I was trying to beat my running buddy, but he pulled ahead and I couldn't catch him with about 500m to go. So close!

Re: running bra too big??

The lululemon Ta Ta Tamers are totally worth the cost. Totally. They're my absolute favourite bra for all sports (running, floor hockey, miscellaneous strength stuff). They're actually cheaper than the other bras I have, and I like them more. If you can find one that fits, I highly recommend them. I...

Re: 2014 Calgary Marathon Turns 50

Looks like fun! I have no hope in hell of running a marathon, so I'll maybe throw myself into the 10k. At least that will justify what I will surely devour at the food trucks. I'll go anywhere for food trucks.

A bit shorter and fewer obstacles, if memory serves. I'm really mostly sad that I can't come to Vancouver to do the Warrior Dash. The coast is "home" to me.

Re: Warrior Dash

I wanted to do the Warrior Dash SO BADLY this year, but forces beyond my control (ie: my husband's employer) have conspired against me to make childcare next to impossible. And there is no way I am traveling on my own with my two hellions, I mean wonderful miracles. As consolation, I have signed up ...

1. Run 100k before the end of the month 2. Finish my 5k race in under 34:00 3. Run with my daughter at least once a week, in addition to my four planned runs. 1. Done. 103.8km as of Saturday night. 2. Done. PB'd with 32:52! 3. Sadly, no. We missed two weeks because she wasn't feeling into it. We di...

Re: Training advice for a newbie's first 10K?

I just wanted to update: I've worked out a training plan that I think will work really well. I have four runs a week planned - one LSD, one repeats of some kind (hills or flat, both 400m), one steady on my own, and one slow with a friend who is just learning to run, with a faster to/from our meeting...

oobinsnaffa's Race for Pace 5k, & a new PB!

Back in March, I ran what was pretty much my first 5k race - it was my first 5k since 2006 anyway, and since having two kids! If anything will put you back at square one, two kids and six years of sloth would be it! Anyway, I knew as soon as I finished that I was hooked on racing. My time was a not-...

Walking the water stations... never thought of that!! That's a good idea. Avis, your advice has given me much to think about, as usual. I appreciate the cool-headed approach. And I agree with you re: the long distances, too. The part about the plan that my friend shared that concerns me is that four...

Training advice for a newbie's first 10K?

I just realized this morning that I'm 13 weeks from my very first 10K race, and it's probably time that I take a more serious look at a training plan. I've been chatting with a friend who is doing a 10K around the same time as me, and she's planning to follow the "Run Less, Run Faster" pla...

I made another favourite salad around here. Grilled (or roasted) veg, beans, grain of choice and a vinaigrette. They're all the rage amongst my internet mommy pals right now. I haven't bought one because I'm saving my pennies for a Garmin watch. It's a neat little device though!
