Re: Report: Lance considering confession
Does this also end the "brand"/career of Chris Carmichael ? Coaching both LA and Hincapie, one can only assume he was involved to a certain point.. maybe at the other end of the syringe ?

Re: Friday: We survived the end of the world!!!
Just a 5km walk to work and chinups today. On the walk to work, passed a group of Indian women standing on the break wall overlooking Lake Ontario chanting, singing and banging drums in a circle. Something to do with the solstice ? The waves were crashing pretty good and there was a large (200/300) ...

Re: Tuesday before Christmas
7k on a trail in Oakville this afternoon. Got attacked by a Doberman that was off leash. Had to stop and warn the thing off. Got the usual "he wants to be friends speech" from the moronic owner. Briefly considered picking the dog up and wrapping it around his neck. On my way back I could h...

Re: Spin vs. Run Saturday
Just 6K in the face of a nasty wind off Lake Ontario. Right hip still hurts since the Tannenbaum 10k but is slowly getting better. Hope the wind dies down by tomorrows 16k. Some of it is on a trail away from the lake though so that helps.

Re: Big, Fast, Strong
Could you elaborate a little more on your schedule and maybe on the actual exercises you found most beneficial ? I want to incorporate some weight training in December/January while I am slacking off on the running a little... Well, my routine was geared towards 3 sports at the time (judo, kendo, s...

Re: May 12, 2013-Sporting Life 10K--promo gift card again!
For anyone who has run both, would you prefer the SL10K or the Yonge Street 10K (CRS) ? reasons, etc.. I'm leaning toward the CRS one because it is earlier in the year and seems smaller(ish). They really are the same race. I did them both last year, and am doing them both again this year. If you ca...

Re: Big, Fast, Strong
Conventional wisdom is that low reps is for strength gain. When I was lifting I did 3 rep sets of everything, and periodized with number of sets. So a normal week would be 5 sets of 3, an easy week 3 sets, a hard week 7 sets. Worked like a charm for me. This was advice I got from a guy who did S&am...

Re: Rainy race day Sunday
Brrr. I was out at the Tannenbaum helping out this morning. I got soaked and was very cold. Couldn't feel my feet by the end. I loved handing out medals, though! That's a first time I've done that job as a volunteer. Holy carp some of those runners were FAST! 31:20 was the winning time! Since I'm s...

Re: Super Sunday
Slept in and had to pump the tires on the 29er so no 4 hour bike ride for me. Did the usual 2 hour ride along the lake to the Humber Bay bridge and back. Beautiful morning and they've opened up a new section of the waterfront trail in Mimico so that is nice. Less time spent on Lakeshore dodging stre...

Re: Wake up - Saturday!
Decided to go out and explore and ended up running 1 hr 45 mins. Beautiful fall weather, warm wind blowing off Lake Ontario. Amazing to still be running in shorts and a tshirt in November. Tomorrow is supposed to be even warmer so am planning a 4 hr bike ride into Toronto, to the Leslie Spit and bac...

Little 45 minute jaunt along the lake and up the river and back this morning. Stopped at the end to do a few sets of chinups in the park.
Good luck to those running in NYC this weekend.

10k along the lake, ending literally just as the rain started. Set a PB in the 10k for the second week running, which also included a PB for the 5k. The more I think about it I am convinced I was tired out by the training before the STWM half and also tired from fightingthe head cold I had too. I'm...

Re: STWM Sunday
A mediocre day for me. Just missed my B goal but did get a PB by about 5.5 minutes but didn't run anywhere near to my training times. Woke up with sore legs, had the lingering cold, yadda yadda. Really though, every day can't be your best and overall it went okay. Trying to decide what to do next. N...

NB has good deals on at the STWM expo. Lots of $99, some $89 and even one $79 I saw. They had the 1080sbut not the 890s. Minimus as well and some other models I didn't recognize.

Re: STWM roll call?
Par for the course for me..fighting a wicked head cold all week and am having to skip the last three runs in the program. Three months of pretty damn good training (by my standards) and bam.. sigh. Still, looking forward to it and even if I have a mediocre day I think it is pretty much a guaranteed ...

Re: October 2012
Hope to hit the A goal at the STWM, maybe even the A+ If not, have the Downsview Half in my back pocket as an alternate a month later. Probably going to stop using the RR training plans after this one. I feel they "peak" a little early and don't include enough running at goal pace.

Thank you all very much. Purdy65 it would be nice to meet but based on your times, you'll have to wait around for me for about 20 mins.. ha Actually my goal is to run really hard for 20K and then dog it for the last KM and come in just before the marathon winner and bask in the reflected glory... ki...

Re: NB 1080s
For those in the GTA, was at the RR Outlet store two days ago and noticed they had the 890V.1on sale for $60 (just paid 120$ on "sale" at the NB store for 890V.2). Lots of sizes but only regular width, so I didn't get any (damn my duck shaped feet). I notice little difference between V.1 a...
