Question for Toronto people

Hello everyone! I'm staying in Toronto for 5 days, staying near Bloor West and Avenue Rd. (Right by the ROM) Looking for running routes away from traffic - is my best bet to zip down to the waterfront? I've never been down there, is it a pleasant area for a run? I'm looking to do anywhere from 10-15...

Re: Giving Thanks for a Gorgeous Saturday!

Went out for a 20km run this morning, absolutely perfect weather and beautiful fall colours. Things went off the rails a little bit at around the 10-12km mark, lots of pain the right hamstring & glute, and my feet. It turned into a battle of will to make it back home, but I did it. I couldn't ke...

Re: Rum Running Saturday

Banged out 25k, my longest so far. Absolutely fantastic running weather today!

Mentally I feel awesome, but physically a little beat up - either I'm coming down with the flu, or the effort pummeled me more than I expected.

Re: Ooops ... Marathon win a surprise

It's certainly not an egregious case of cheating like who someone purposely cuts the course short, hops in a car or on steroids but the lady most certainly inadvertently gained some unfair advantage - correct me if I'm wrong, but when you start talking about those longer distances, it's very much a ...

Re: Hey, its Tuesday already !

Got in a nice n' easy 10k.

After (mostly) following a training plan all summer towards the army run, it was really relaxing to just go out and .... run. No goals, strides, intervals, fartleks, this was about enjoying the cool night air while burning some fat as a bonus side-effect. Nice. :)

Re: Everyone must be resting this Monday!

Rest day here -- legs are a little stiff from yesterday's efforts -- I am sure tomorrow will tell the true story! Ditto, feeling pretty stiff today, much more so than I normally would even for an extra hard effort... I realized that in my rush to go meet my family after the race, I didn't do ...

Re: Off to the races Sunday

First time running a half marathon, I thought I had an outside chance at 1:50 if everything went right.... It did: 1:48:53! Very happy, if a little sore. The siren song of the marathon is calling... I really really really want to, just don't know if I can realistically commit to the amount o...

No idea, but you could test it out tomorrow, the forecast calls for 25km/h winds with 40km/h gusts :-/

Related, if you have the time, a visit to the War Museum is well worth it. It's an incredible experience.

Re: Forerunner 210--replaced with 10 (report)

I have a 110 with a HRM strap. It's pretty good for my basic wants, but it has a very annoying, widespread, problem : my computer won't recognize it unless I plug/unplug it 5 or 6 times. Frustrating....

Hearing about all the problems with various models, my next watch will not be a Garmin.

I signed up. Wasn't planning on it when I first saw it but 2 good friends who aren't typically runners did and asked me to join them. My beer drinking days are mostly behind me, but eh, why not.

I did a bit of scouting and ran part of the course today because I wasn't too familiar with the roads in the Hull and Sussex/Rockliffe area. Here's my runkeeper map/elevation chart: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3466788/armyhalf.png As you can see I started at Booth street and stopped when I f...

Re: SATURDAY Racing and Flying

I decided to go and run a ~10k stretch of the Army half (Hull and Sussex/Rockliffe). Very glad I did, it's pretty hilly - nothing I can't handle, but I'm glad I'll be mentally ready for it. Beautiful day for running, too! Gawd I love the fall!

Somewhat obvious, but also check your shoes/gait: if you're running "funny" because of either, that might putting some stress on your back.

Re: It's finally Sunday in YVR!

Speaking of whiny legs - did 21K on a pretty tired pair this morning due to the fast 13K that I did yesterday. The last 5K or so were a good test of mental strength but I put on my big boy pants and slugged it out. Glad it's done and looking forward to the next 36 hours or so of rest.

Sweet sweet sweet running weather in Ottawa this morning. Aaah-mazing !

Did 13k, it felt awesome, I was able to nail my goal pace while keeping my bpm in the mid 150s. Feels great! According to strava it was actually a 10K PR by about 90 seconds!
