Re: Winter... To run or not to run?
Bad footing will keep me indoors, so I generally play every run by ear, depending on that. I think your question is whether you can maintain your fitness level through the winter running on a TM (as opposed to outside): Yes! The TM might feel a bit easier because you're not fighting wind and hills,...

Winter... To run or not to run?
Since September I've gotten myself from 1/1 walk/run ratio to 1/9. Next week I will be at 1min walk/10 min run. This is my first goal since starting running in August. We got a big dump of snow over the weekend and it ain't going anywhere. My favourite runs are outdoors. I've had my eye on a pair of...

Re: 10k in 57:30
Keep it up, you're doing great! Hills - the more you do them, the better you get at them. Don't worry about pace, just maintain a steady effort. Intervals - you don't need to do any all-out running, especially not every workout. You could pick one workout per week (maybe 5-6K distance) where you fo...

Re: Do you run in the rain?
I'm curious: why did you think people would say not to do it? I thought that there might be a safety issue. Maybe the ground would be too slippery. I suppose if you're wearing good shoes, your traction will be good enough. Another thing is that there is most of the time another option like a treadm...

Re: Do you run in the rain?
Thanks for the advice... I will definitely equipe myself so that I'm ready next time it rains. I was sure there would be at least one or two people saying to not do it. That doesn't seem to be the case. The days I skip because it rains I'm always really disappointed. And running outdoors really is t...

10k in 57:30
I'm on week 10 of my own walk/run program. I just finished my first 10k run in 57:30 min. That's a 9:17 minutes per mile pace. Here are the details. Please feel free to critique... That's why I'm here on the forum, so that I can learn from more experienced runners. - Felt good pretty much the entire...

Do you run in the rain?
Rained quite a bit today and is still raining a little. Usually I go for a quick run after work on a nearby trail before I pick up my kids and then head home. I opted to not run (or at least put it off until the kids are in bed and hop on the treadmill or go to the indoor track). So my question... d...
