Re: Another Rider Says Lance Armstrong Took EPO

...Lance doped. ... And if you think doping is the worst thing Lance has done... think again. Money laundering, tax evasion, fraud... and more. Disclaimer: I don't care about this debate and am not going to state my opinion one way or the other. With that out of the way, I would like to pose the fo...

2011 ITU World Cup Race - Edmonton

If anyone is interested in volunteering for this event, please PM me. It is on Sunday, July 10, 2011 (one week after Great White North) and will feature age group races (try-a-tri, spint, and Olympic), kids of steel, PATCO (juniors), and of course the pro men and women. It should be an awesome day o...

Re: Law Abiding Cyclist?

#1 - I only stop at stop signs when cars are coming. Nobody coming? Go. I'm not going to unclip and clip just to satisfy the legal requirement when there is really no difference to my safety to do so. I actually counted cars rolling through stop signs with my kids, following a Toronto Star story th...

Re: Who's registering for Melissa's this year

I swear on my life I have had snow in August in Calgary so we definitely have the full year covered! You are correct. I don't remember the exact date, but it was in the last week or so of August, 1990. I know that was the year because I was flying from Edmonton to go down east for school and such. ...

Re: Edmonton marathon weekend

Congrats guys. This race for me was an undertrained, body-not-rested, personal worst by about 45 minutes. What was my time? Not sure, since RR didn't even have the courtesy to put my results in the results page. I know it was around 5:40 or so, but I have no exact numbers. I sent an e-mail to RR thi...

Re: My First Race

Mine was the Medibank Private Australia Day 8k run in Sydney, Australia, on January 26, 2005. It was a beautiful summer day, nice and warm, and a good challenging course near the Central Business District in Sydney. If I recall correctly, my time was somewhere around 49 or 50 minutes, but to be hone...

Re: Who's registering for Melissa's this year

I can't say I've ever done the 10k with the monster hill, but I've done the 22k a couple of times and it has its share of hills. I can't say much other than try not to worry too much about it. The hills aren't the breathtaking thing about this race; it's the scenery. Yes, it's a 10k or 22k "rac...

First he says this: ...running’s new philosophy of inclusion and celebration of unremarkable achievement has been nothing short of an unmitigated disaster. Then he concludes with: Not long ago The Herd decided to reconvene at the Hart House track. The plan was to train toward the singular goal of co...

Re: Perspective for us BOP'ers

Let us celebrate our BOP status! At Calgary 70.3 this past weekend, I was 702/770, in my age group I was 111/115. I finished in 7:16:17. That's right. I finished. While other men 35-39 were sleeping, watching TV, eating breakfast (and lunch  ), etc., I was swimming, cycling, and running. Sure,...

Re: Le Tour de France 2010 Cheating Thread

There is one really great way to keep enjoying watching TdF or other races. If you believe the athletes may be doping and there may be "cheating" going on, then just ignore the riders and check out the awesome bikes they are riding! Really, who is watching TdF for anything other than bike ...

Canadian Cycling Championships, Edmonton, June 25&27

I knew absolutely nothing about these until I saw an article in the paper this morning. Could be some interesting viewing. Unfortunately the time trial stuff was / is today during the day, so that's not possible, but 127km (women's) and 180km (men's) road races are on Sunday in the river valley. htt...
