I'm in the same boat. Today was my first run since my last race in June. I swam 2-3x a week for the entire summer and managed spin classes 3x a week until mid-July but I've basically been vegging for the past month and a half. I have never taken off that amount of time before. I managed 8k/1 hour on...

Sorry this is a little long, but this is my first time posting probably since the beginning of July. Training went well until mid-July when dh went on vacation for 2 weeks and after that I just couldn't get myself back in the groove. At that point I was spinning and swimming 3x a week each but no ru...

I was having a bit of a similar issue with my 301 lately. The data would upload to Training Centre and I could view it, but as soon as I closed the program the data was gone. It wouldn't save it. The next time I uploaded data it would have to re-send all my activities back to that point. This starte...

I like the feeling of speed, but my comfort zone is mid-50's. I wiped out at around 30 kph after hitting a speed bump last year and it's still in the back of my mind. Plus the roads I ride are back country roads and they tend not to be in the best of repair.

I'm a heavy sweater and I find that my lenses tend to fog. Any recommendations for lenses that won't fog? I've seen some Adidas ones that have vents at the top of the frames, but they are way expensive. On the other hand, since I'll also be wearing them for riding I should probably go for prescripti...

Why not come to Grimsby on July 20th (Trisport Subaru series)? It's closer than Welland. I am told that with the exception of one hill (possibly monster cough cough but I haven't seen it), the bike is flat as is the run and the water is shallow and the swim course runs parallel to the shore. I'm pla...

I'v swum in my tri shorts in a pool tri and had no problems. I also have no problems running in my bike shorts. While the furthest I've ridden in my tri shorts is 40k I don't feel a difference on the bike between them and my bike shorts. As for lubrication, I've recently discovered that Chamois Butt...

I wish there had been a cop around the other evening at dusk to ticket the cyclist dressed in black and riding with no lights, reflectors, or helmet. She was barely visible. To me, that's just a death wish.

Re: First Open Water Swim

Congrats on conquering your first open water swim. So glad it went well for you. I too love my Blue Seventy Reaction wetsuit. . Only problem I really felt it in my lower back, Andrea said that does happen due to the changes in body position, I noticed that to, so I need to engage my core more to cha...

I got mine at Ironman Canada last year - a Blue Seventy Reaction. I paid $300 for it - maybe I got hosed, but given this sport is so expensive, at this point, it's a mute point! It's good. That's about all I have to say about it - that, and oh, it was HELL to try on - in a tent, on a hot day - I ha...

Racing In The Rain

It looks like I will most likely be doing my race on Saturday in the rain unless it gets called for thunder showers. Any logistical or racing advice for handling the rain? I mostly concerned about keeping me and my gear dry before the race starts and how I'm going to manage to get my wetsuit on stan...

that's the same one I own and for what it's worth, it's a good one! (like I know any different! HA!) Congrats! It's what they rented out last year so I have swum in it before though there have been some updates to it for this year. Despite how difficult it was to put on, I was really happy with the...

wetsuit! No more rentals for me. I guess that means I better continue doing tris to justify the purchase. Dh presented me with a home made coupon redeemable for a wetsuit for my birthday this week. I had already arranged for a rental for my race this weekend so when I went in to pick it up today I d...

Congrats Fish on a strong race. All that training you've been putting in is starting to pay off. Hills are also my fear but at least I have plenty around here to ride on if I want to. Does your computrainer have a hills profile?
