Re: Ottawa treatment for crackly knees?

mine have been doing the same for at least 20 years. PT told me the same thing one day about 10 years ago, so I've just ignored it since.

Re: The Even Darker Side... Adventure Racing!

I've been thinking about one of these events for a few years, this thread isn't helping me stay away. Thanks for the reports.

I seem to recall having a lovely visit over a coffee with a really nice lady in Corunna once when she was in town visiting here sister-in-law.

love it. Just sent that link to my mom. Who at 76 is still pretty active, but just assume she stays that way.

Good on your dad Habs. No better place to find inspiration than our parents.

Gold medal WEDNESDAY

Great 12k for me last night. Finally not so hot out here.
Then watched my hometown boy Derek Drouin take the gold in the high jump.

Most of you have probably never heard of Corunna, but were a small town south of Sarnia.

have good day all.

Re: Hills

Around 220 last December and now for the last few months have been steady at the 178 - 182 range. . way to go, that is excellent. I think you already have gains in that area. Go back up to 220 and you will see the difference it made. OK don't really do that. But you get what I'm saying.

Re: Hills

losing any additional weight will really help. The extra pounds I carry have always been my largest issue on hilly courses.
Easier said than done. And not just personal weight, anything your carrying you don't need will help if you can ditch it.

Re: Somewhat sunny Tuesday

Good morning Runners.....I haven't been around much lately, but still running, and some biking and swimming mixed in. I've been struggling the last couple of weeks with very slow runs, I've been blaming it on the sudden hot temps we have had, and figured I just wasn't aclimitized yet. Last night how...

Re: Ironman Muskoka - Cancelled

I'm kind of surprised also, but sure agree with the Deerhurst gouging. I did the 70.3 back in 2010 ish. I called them looking for 1 night stay, think the minimum was 3 nights and cost was crazy. I stayed at the Super8 off the highway for $100 or so and just drove the 10min in the morning. It's certa...

Re: Statins

As we well know everyone is different but there are a lot more people taking statins with out side effects than the other way around. I did my Ironman while taking them so I think you have a good chance of still training if you want

Re: Statins

I have a family history of heart disease on both sides. Everyone I'm related to has high Cholesterol numbers. anyone over 40 is on a statin. I started at 35, after my father died of a massive heart attack at 67. I don't have any side effects that I can pinpoint on them. I've wondered the odd time if...

Re: Ironman Race Day Advice

Great advice above. Mouthwash is a good idea. I used gum and it was great to be able to "clean and freshen" my mouth, and I find it keeps my mouth from drying out so much. Change of socks and a small bag of regular ruffles potato chips were like heaven in my run special needs bag. I put a ...

Re: Humidex Tuesday

wind and T-storms kept me in last night on the TM, so I ran a hilly programed route for 12k. My calfs are still feeling those hills. Guess I should be doing that more often. Might get a bike in tonight if the weather cooperates, if not, I'll hit the pool. finally summer weather, no I just need to ge...

Re: Sunny Saturday

we lost spring and are back to winter in Southern Ontario. I didn't feel like being cold so hit the TM for 21.1k. My longest run since Nov when I tore my calf. I'm feeling it, but its coming back and that makes me happy. Best of luck to all you ATB'er tomorrow. I'm a bit jealous. Hope you all have a...

lots of reasons as to why the level of saltiness changes. But I suffer from the same problem and halo headbands are the best solution I've found.

Re: Friday - where's spring??

can't wait for the warmer weather, but 4C and sunny last night was actually a perfect running temp for me. Nice easy 10k. Was going to go longer, but my calf (injury) started to scream a little so I cut it a little short.

3000m swim for me tonight.

Good bye Ruby TUESDAY.......

since Tuesday is already coming to an end.......
was way too nice not to run outside last night in Southern Ontario. 12k for me, although it was a slow (lot's of puddles) 12k, it was simply beautiful out there. Love the first few spring like days.

Swim for me tonight.

testing my math skills pretty early on a Monday.
but 7.456454301 miles planned.

Or 12k in metric.

Finally spring has sprung in Ontario. If my asthma wasn't flaring up for some reason, I'd do it outdoors, but think I'll be stuck on the TM again.

Have a great day all.

too damn cold for me to run outside. TM run tonight. Still working up slowly from my injury. Sucks how much fitness I've lost, but slowly improving. Be safe out there everyone. Hey JB, been a long time. Injuries really suck. I know, got one yesterday. Out for a perfect LSD. Turned around at 8k and was starting to get some tightness in my right calf for some reason. Stopped and stretched it out a bit and seemed OK, but still there......13.5k into my 16k run, something got r...

Re: AudioFlood Waterproof iPod Shuffle

I've had one of these for over a year now and love it. Use it multiple times a week. Took a bit to find the plug that works best with my ears, but the ringed ones are best for me. I wet them first and they slip in a little deeper than normal and don't tend to leak on me. I still get that the odd tim...
