I thought Port was a marathon virgin ?? :?:think: Yup. But not a 30k ATB virgin. I lost that cherry last year. It wasn't pretty. ATB brings me bad luck, I had twisted an ankle soon after my 28k lsd last year and didn't run at all in my taper. Not running tommorow, but feel like the fevers b...

I think this is getting off focus. Once you've run the distance and are comfortable with the concept of it, you can get by with very little training and still do ok. The point is should you? And is it optimal training or just enough to get by? Really what's the point of paying to enter a race if you...

Built into my glasses so that the info is displayed via the lens, but still lets me see. oh, and if it could defog my lenses that would be nice too. Until then, I'd be happy with a smaller 305 that maintains screen size. Evolutionary improvements in the HRM, some polar style fitness tests, and a spe...

I wouldn't want to hold a hand held bottle the whole race, but if that's what you're used to I don't see the issue. Do you really think that you'll polish off the bottle in under 8k? And 8k's just the point at which you get a refill, you're not going without for that long. But if you want more water...

Unfortunately all controls are moved to the headphone cord. I could never run with apple earphones. Not, that I would run with an mp3 player though. 8)

Lalalalalalalalala *hands over ears* Lalalalalalalalala I can't hear you! (And no, I'm not calling La.) Where's the "fretting" emoticon? How long have you gone? It could be a pretty painful experience to run 30K if you haven't gone more than 20 yet.... although you do have two more weekends... :) A...

Bah, I was doing so well. Hit 25+k 3 weeks ago, then a race pace 20k, then I slammed my knee into a wall, and missed last weeks lsd, and a full week of running! Finally did a 5k on saturday, and an 8k on sunday. :( Still felt sore today (I really did a number on it) so took a rest day but will try t...

I know it's a lot-- which is why I really need to be able to do it this year if I get in. I'm going to register this year to start the clock on my 3-time-loser status again but PRAY I don't get in because I don't want to run it this year. (I know that seems wrong) I'm tempted since I did the lotter...

I voted other. I'd say it's well worth $242, and I'd gladly pay that, but they don't let you! You gotta win the $&*^# lottery. And yes, many many people pay over $1,000 to get in (the premium that the tour operators charge).

I hope some of you guys booked your flight already. I heard that the cost of flights have almost doubled since I pre-booked mine. Still decent fares, but those of us who booked during that promo really lucked out. I assume it was air canada's attempt to put porter back in it's place.

Great job once again La. You own that course! It's very rare to PB in cold weather, so I still predict plenty of pb's in your future.

And thankfully, I wasn't the bunny this year! I'd feel terrible for trying to take you out. But at least he seemed to be keeping the right pace.

25% off Nike.com Clearance shoes + Free shipping to states

Nike Store has a new 25% off coupon NSCLEAR25 valid on all clearance items. Shipping is free on orders of $125 or more (after discounts) using coupon SHIP99NIKE otherwise it's $8 flat rate. I used a similar deal last time I saw it and got 3 pairs of Triax 11's for $180 total charges. I believe I had...

So sorry to hear about that. It's amazing the harm we can do with our own inattention. I can relate since on Friday night while doing some work downstairs on the floor, as I swung around to reach my hammer, I BASHED my knee ridiculously hard into the door jam. It was the most fierce agonizing pain I...

Don't blame the squirrel, he's searching for awareness. IMO, there is no debate, just fact. There are runners, and then there are the lazy wannabes who can't run without Beyonce. It's gotta be a fact right? They always claim that "I can't run without my music". Actually, I'm kinda bi. Or I...

This is a race that desperately needs either a higher cap or a higher registration fee. Not a big fan of paying more, but this is the hardest race to enter, or at least the most aggravating. I complain about NYC and it's cursed lottery, but in some ways this is worse! When I did the race in 2005, th...

How long have you guys been running to prepare? I'm trying to hit 5 days a week but often just get in 4. My LSD has gone up to 25k, and my shorter LSD's (like 20k - Wow, how did 20k become short?) with the RR have been surprisingly fast. Probably too fast, but no ill effects yet.

Of course international runners are celebrated, we pay an extra $50 us to run. Of course that's only if we get in through the lottery. Originally the NYRR had an inverse algorithm for acceptance whereby the further away you lived from NYC the better your odds of acceptance. A couple of years ago the...

Port- why so negative? They have a lot of people that want to go so they have to limit it somehow. I'll likely enter again this year, but there's no big rush. Don't get me wrong, it's a great marathon, and I'd love to do it as my 1st. I'm just turned off by the lottery money grab in place of first ...
