The Oatmeal on Running

I find it eerie how his exaggerated body in part 4 looks a lot like my non-exaggerated body. And that was quite exaggerated - dude runs a 1:30 half, didn't think he'd be too hefty. A little googling reveals I am right. http://www.menshealth.com.sg/system/files/shared/Matthew_Inman_The_Oatmeal_Racin...

Re: Calf Sleeves & pain

I love my calf sleeves. I got them for shin splints that held on for 6 months. A few weeks of just wearing the sleeves around the house, to work, etc, and finally relieve and healing. I wear them on occassion if my surgery scars are acting up or my shins/calves are feeling particularly loose (result...

Howdy Saturday!

Spin in an hour. The rest of the day will be all about dirty dishes being made clean and reading for my course. I did not enjoy spin today. The instructor came in 5min late wearing full night out on the town makeup then decided to add 3 sets of Tabata to the circuit. Added 10min of ab floor work at...

Re: Tired Tuesday?

Dog walking tonight with the BCSPCA. So that will be 2 hours of puppy love :D I predict that my legs will once again not be on speaking terms with me. I survived last nights spin class but went to bed with gel ice packs on my legs. Stairs are still a bit iffy  For the record, that's 2 spin clas...

Re: Back to work Monday...

Holy Mother of God! My legs still hurt from spin Saturday morning, but this mornings 30min sufferfest run has been completed. My already slow-as-a-snail pace wasn't even slowed further by the fact that my legs were literally screaming at me with every step. Not sure if I should go to spin class agai...

Re: No Doubt Its FRIDAY

TGIF indeed. It's been a rough week emotionally for me and I am really glad it's done. Day 3 of Week 1 re-re-re-re-starting running is in the books. Ankle is a bit hooped. Hopefully I will remember to do some mobility exercises this weekend, and it will decide to cooperate and loosen up by Monday. H...

Back to work Wed

Second run re-re-re-starting is always the one that knocks me on my ass and reminds me it's not all tea and crumpets. Doesn't help that I walked dogs for about 4 hours yesterday and rolled my left ankle at least twice that I can remember, so it's twingy and stiff this morning. But I did it.

Last day of the year!

First walk/ run in a really long time. Re-re-re-starting. Went better than I had expected considering I'm still a bit sick and haven't done any real cardio in a month, but was marginally worse than I had hoped. Good way to close out the year of heaven and hell. Too bad I still have to go to work :|

jackets?

Does anyone know upsizing. Like, if the medium has a 39" waist do they add 1 or 2 inches to the large, then another 1-2" to the xl? Now that i see it on Holly, I like the fit/style of the windblock for running, but I HATE the back pocket, but there have to be pockets. So I'm on the fence a...

jackets?

Holly can you model this jacket? Right now, just seeing it on the hangar it seems a bit baggy in the arms and more fitted at the waist but relaxed fit in the body. I'm not a huge fan. I don't like the back pockets for running, but it's okay if I just wear for riding. And yes measurements are extreme...

Triathletes in the Know

Just wondering if anyone knows who Mike Janes is? He has apparently represented Canada in the World Triathlon Championships in Australia.

He's the President of a condominium complex that we've just taken over management of.

For ladies only...

The 32F is gone to a good home now, but the 38FF is still available. I'm really not sure of the equivalent size, because an F is DDD, but I can't find a listing for a FF. if you know anyone who might fit it, let me know and I'll send it along! I just hate to waste it because, for a runner with this...

Christmas Baking 2012

I learned at yesterday's cookie baking class that I overbeat all my cookies. Whipped shortbread included. Too long and wayyyyyy too fast but I've been lucky that they have all turned out melt in your mouth, but not crumbly. Maybe let them sit for a day or 2 and see how they are?

Re: jackets?

Does the Sugoi sizing chart for that jacket have the circumference around the hips? If not, can we get the numbers before making a commitment? If the hip measurement is too small for me to get a reasonably sized jacket (i.e. I won't want to look like a marshmallow), then I may pull out. This is a f...

Running plans for the end of the world?

Not the end of the world, just a shift from what we have now. The animals and machines that man has created will turn on us and we'll be forced into a dark ages of sorts.... It's a Friday, so if I still have no social life I might run after making sure my survival kit is in order. Or, I'll stay in a...

Re: NB 1080s

NB discontinued my NB 826 (favourite shoe of all time!), and replaced it with 1190. Not the same shoe, but it was "ok." Then it was gone. I wore the 890's but found the arch support intrusive and it gave me arch pain, unless I took out the insoles. Anyways, didn't want to pay the big $'s ...

Re: jackets?

I like the unisex fit, the longer length (required for me at 5'9"), and can even live with a windblock jacket rather than something with a lining. What I personally have issue with is the styling. I was under the impression we were talking about a running jacket, more along the lines of what IB...

I'm trying to find the Windblock on Sugoi's site but all the links Google comes up with are out of date. Some of the pictures I found show a cycling jacket? I'm assuming it would be these (scroll down to page 5): http://www.sugoi.com/media/uploads/blog/files/Bike_July2012screen.pdf" onclick="window...

Thermal sounds nice when I'm already battling snow and wind in October. No snow here but it does get extremely windy coming off the ocean. In our version of winter that wind is cold. I don't suppose it makes much sense to have a winter/thermal version now and explore a shell version in the s...
