Trying to shed pounds on the way to the starting line?

I have easily lost 1-2 lbs per week, with nothing too drastic. But that only happens when there is plenty to loose

Looks like it will be another Sunny Sunday

Good morning. It was too nice a morning to not try a run. Pleased that I still remember how.

If this were a Book and Tea forum it wouldn't be bad, but it is a Running forum, so Yup it is. Get up and Get out ;)

Curling up to a book and tea after a run, now that sounds nice

but a lot colder than the mercury reads. Roads were wet this morning and a cold, damp wind blowing. Need to find those gloves, hands were cold. Recovering from a gastro of some kind, 1st run in 3 days. All alone on the wet, cold, empty road at 05:00. For the first time in a while, I felt like my old...

Re: Woman gives birth after finishing Chicago Marathon

This story keeps coming to mind every time I think of this thread. I relate the two, you may not see the parallel but it is the way my mind works with risk and heroism/celebrity. There was an A330 Air Transat aircraft flying to Europe and lost it's fuel due to a leak in a fuel line and had to make a...

Re: Woman gives birth after finishing Chicago Marathon

Ok I admit to not having any knowledge of pregnancy   , but my initial instinct is to call the woman an idiot for risking her health and more important, the baby's. Something does not sit right with me on this one. :-t I heard this waking up this morning and I was cursing like a sailor....

Re: Woman gives birth after finishing Chicago Marathon

fstreet - I was with you completely until I found out she was having contractions / in labour during the race. At some point a good decision (I don't fault her at all for starting)can become a bad one (continuing to race while having contractions). It was her second child - (oh wait - that's not go...

Re: Woman gives birth after finishing Chicago Marathon

Wow......I'm thinking back to my youngest, where I went from minor contractions to crowning in less than 2 hours. In her place, my kid would've definitely been borne on the course! Our 1st, forceps, our 2nd, DON'T PUSH, the doctor not here yet!!, pop, she's out. Our 3rd on the way down, was all tan...

Re: Woman gives birth after finishing Chicago Marathon

Anyways, I guess I'm ending up with a feeling of 'not what I would do, but it's not my body or baby, and not my place to judge'. I agree that she's really quite lucky that baby turned out okay, or she would've been roasted in the press (fairly or not). Well said. There's a lot of judging going on h...

Re: Bra Chafing

I don't think there has nearly been enough chiding for Dave posting this question, so my answer for you is that if you're concerned with chafing when you're wearing your sports bras, Dave, then maybe you need to construct a new "bro" that will not chafe you. I think because only women hav...

5 years ago I posted my concerns about tights, now I don't wear anything else in the winter and even short tights in the summer, I find I have less chaffing with tights. On the really cold days I use long underwear with tights ontop

Re: My it is early on Friday

Missed my run this morning :( . Our youngest ended up in bed with us last night, so I moved out to the sofa. My alarm clock went for over an hour without waking MrsMcd up (who would have come to wake me up). Oh well- I'm hoping I have time after work, when it's light, and nice & warm. All that ...

Frosty Thursday

Haven't started a thread in a while, might as well say good morning.

Frosty this morning west of Montreal, 10k done under 55min. Longest in a while and it felt good. There's a new Tim Hortons at the mid point of this route, on colder days, it's going to be tempting.

Is it the long weekend yet?
