Chip Timing Systems question

Our running club has been offered a donation to purchase a chip timing system. Our runs are typically 1-200 people and we anticipate will always be less than 500 people and the system will likely be used throughout the community and other outlying communities for cross country runs, ski races, triat...

Re: Sunday! So whatcha doing?

2010 ended with a good note and good news so will be back to a more structured training routine.

Perhaps a 7k run on the TM this morning and then time to dig out the decorations and de-Christmas the front lawn

Re: Running in Riviera Maya, Mexico

Sorry, I won't be there until January. Here's my planned route , based on some people's suggestions. Unless you are going early, 5th ave from the Cozumel ferry dock at Beunito Juarez to the pier on Constituyenetes will be busy, with ped traffic. If it is just run the beach, Stay off the softest san...

Re: CBC’s The National reports on “Marathon Heart Damage”

Marathons were not meant to be leisure walks in the park, what did the researcher think they would find out with the study? Of course there is damage, The heart is a muscle and straining it damages tissue that is eventually repaired. That is how you build strength. It is no different than doing a st...

Re: Anybody hate barefoot / minimal footwear running?

I think one must consider the long term. When our ancestors ran to catch food etc etc etc they did not do so on pavement or concrete.

As they say "Be kind to your knees. You'll miss them when they're gone."

My son drinks my Gatorade sometimes (diluted). Is he an "athlete"? I don't know, but he's a very active kid, and he sweats like crazy and tires himself out from running around all afternoon and playing street hockey with the neighborhood kids. We don't have pop in the house, and he also d...

Re: Time to start open water training

This whole thing of private lakes baffles me - it just seem wrong. Our neighbourhood is about a section, and when it was being built in the 1960s the developer put in two private lakes, this one for the whole neighbourhood and another nearby one just for the people who live right on it. So its priv...
