Re: Canada Day Wednesday
Happy Canada Day all! Starting to feel like a "real" runner again. Just did my week 4 day 3, couch to 5K run in what turned to be the teaming rain that started about 3 minutes after I went out the door. Now sitting here with fingers crossed that things will clear in time for fireworks. Oh ...

Re: Spring Sunday . . .
Still mizzling (Brit term I just learned, cross between mist and drizzle) here in Montreal. Tossing around heading out to Jazz Festival. Those I want to see are under tents, but very small tents. My claustrophobia might lead me to run screaming into the streets, but hoping everyone is staying away d...

Re: Return
Thanks for the warm welcome back everyone! I have moved my posts to The Scenic Route section for now, seems the appropriate place to chart my progress back. Have a local 5k to work towards (army run a little too rich for my budget this summer) in September and Im feeling great!

Reposting from the general discussion section A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... I was a runner and a reasonably active member of this forum. I was really hoping for a daily thread today, but I guess I can't just slide back quite so quietly. Back in October 2011, I shredded my left menisc...

I was really hoping for a daily thread today, but I guess I can't just slide back quite so quietly. Back in October 2011, I shredded my left meniscus like a piece of lettuce. I tried to rehab, ...

Day 16: Planned on 9.5 K on the treadmill, only managed 5K in am followed by gooood stretching. PM: Unfortunately only excercised my right bicep - was taken out for my bday by my surrogate daughter and some theatre friends. Opening night this Thursday!! Day 17 (Monday) Nothing, sadly. Frantically tr...

Re: Sunday's Run in the Rain
What was supposed to be a 13km run turned into 12km with a painful 1km walk at the end. I think I have the beginning of an injury. E-mailed the coach...and we'll figure out a gameplan. Could be that my comeback Fall Race Season may have to be my 2012 Spring Comeback Season. Oh well...I'm not gettin...

I will be registering for the 1/2 again and hopefully will not be flogging my bib due to injury. I am determined to crack a sub 2h 1/2 before I turn 55, so I have to get cracking.

Day 11, 12, 13, 14, 15: Unfortunately all missed, due to rushing off to Belleville to deal with a family medical emergency. (unresolved, but now in a holding pattern). At least I did lots of walking back and forth to the Belleville General Hospital (either that or take out a second mortgage to park ...

+1 Hudson is just that teeny, tiny bit too far away to do a flyby race committee evening or to race - wishing I could do either one, or both.

Re: Reboot
Thanks for the words of encouragement, Avis Day 9: AM: 8,5 slow K on the treadmill, followed by stretching. PM: Hips/abs/buttocks work. I then tried throwing in a couple of back excercies I had researched on the internet. INSTANT lower back pain, I was obviously doing something wrong. I need to be p...

Re: Holiday Monday
I do get the holiday, even though I live in Quebec - good negotiators at the hospital I guess
Plan is for 8 slow K on the treadmill at some point today, gotta shake the "I'm on holiday don't really feel like moving fast" feeling first.

Day 7: Rest day for running. Did hip/core/buttock excercies in am. Did stretching in P.M. Day 8: Treadmill run: 5.34 very slow K's on treadmill this morning followed by stretches. I would like to say that I will do hip/core/buttock excercises this evening, but honesty says I probably won't - off now...

Re: Reboot
Because of the pause, I'm renumbering my days, starting from last Sunday. Day 6: My hip is giving me grief today, after some serious dancing last night (local music festival). I had planned a 45 minute run on the treadmill, but things were really hurting, so I decided it was best to give it a rest -...

I struggle with mental, being injury prone, piriformis issues, too many irons in the fire - it's all a challenge, but when you hang in there and it clicks,
it's beautiful.
it's beautiful.

A day behind as I had somethings I had to get done yesterday and enjoyed the company of Maniacs far too late to run when I got home. Day 8: 5 min warmup walk: Went well..except somehow I managed to do the warm up twice - not sure how that worked. Run for 90 seconds, walk for 90 seconds, run for 3 m...

Re: Reboot
Day 2 Day 1 went swimmingly. I ran again in the evening for 30 minutes and it felt great - kind of the Titanic, I'm King of the World great. I felt so great that I bumped up the speed for the last 10 minutes and then did my strength excercises for hips, butt and abs. This morning I ran for 30 minute...

Spending more than usual time in Maniac Land can be good for my health :) I am resolved, so resolved that I am going to stick with something that will get me to the Army Run 1/2 with the ability to at least finish the run before the finish line closes down. I have tried to keep a journal in the past...

Count me as a supporter too and count yourself (and a few others in this section) as an inspiration. If you can do it, so can I.

Add to that the article I just read in "Psychology Today" which says that it is proven that a daily dose of red wine - not twenty litres mind you - is
proven to reduce belly fat and all the bad stuff that goes with having that spare tire. Cheers!
