Re: Wanna Go Fast? Get Bigger? Go Vegan

-the "meat is murder" argument is moot Perhaps it is moot for you, but it is not moot for others. Your post sounded condescending. I don't understand why you have to "be cool with it". You've stated the veg* diet isn't for you, that's fine. Back to the original post and on a pur...

Re: calorie tracker Apps for iPhone?

I like the Livestrong app. You can enter foods via both a browser and the app - they both sync. I find it to be one of the easier calorie trackers that I've used.

Re: help finding on line shoe supplier

I believe sports4 website has an online coupon you can print out, and they sometimes have one in the local coupon book (not Valpak but I can't remember the name). Runners Warehouse ships UPS Ground by default which will ding you with a BIG brokerage fee. Shipping via USPS/Canada Post Express is $40....

Any insectivores out there? Even fig-eating vegans are insectivores: http://www.thekitchn.com/thekitchn/strange-symbiosis-the-fig-and-the-wasp-126960 "The now-flightless wasp is trapped inside the ripening fruit, where it is digested by special enzymes within the fig. According to fossil recor...

Re: Wanna Go Fast? Get Bigger? Go Vegan

I know lots of omnivores / carnivores and IMO I've met two kinds. 1. The kind for whom its a personal choice (whether for ethical or dietary reasons) and who respect others personal different choices 2. The kind who've made the same choice but feel the need to immediately describe the juicy steak th...

Re: Wanna Go Fast? Get Bigger? Go Vegan

I don't try to convert people to vegetarianism as long as I'm not given 'lectures' from meat-eaters on how it is 'unhealthy' for me. It's funny how it's okay for people to do that but not okay how I give an alternate point of view. What really disgusts me are people who actually try to serve me mea...

I might even do a test run with the K2J Fitness on Thursday evenings, if they are still offering track workouts and open to all to join :?: :?: :shifty:  Have we finally convinced you? Yay! So, when are they again ??? :shifty:    Thursday nights, 6:15pm starting at Ba...

Re: Ottawa running groups

Are they Free Group Runs or do you have to join a Clinic ?? The speed workouts are coached and constitute the clinic, along with a schedule geared to your chosen race distance. After the clinics ended last year (November) there were free group runs until the ATB clinic started in January. A ...

If you're in or around Barrhaven, a few of us here run with K2J Fitness. There are a number of people who do ATB every year. Speed workouts are Thursday nights. It's a great group.

Re: Gatineau Park & Ottawa area trail runs - Add yours!

On the weekend I ran 22K on the Stony Swamp Trails. This run is probably more like 20K if you don't get lost and have to backtrack. I parked at P13 behind Bell High School and ran behind the baseball diamond until the end of the fence where the trail starts. Don't follow the gravel road, it just tak...

I placed an order for Asics Cumulus on Monday by phone. They called and left a message yesterday saying they don't ship Asics to Canada and my order would be cancelled. While running along Meech Lake this weekend, my friends and I lost several large chunks of skin to giant deerflies. We couldn't outrun them - they had a well organized offence. How can I prevent a repeat attack? Bug spray? Full-coverage clothing? Body armour? Do they set up camp there all summer or ...

I'll give you my Gatineau Park trail report. It was Ridge Road (which is #1) from P7 (Kingsmere) to Champlain Lookout. You access Ridge from #30 from P7. Total of 15K. It was a great day! I would love to come back to this trail to do some hills. My running buddies and I have 15K to do this weekend ...

My review of a few things I bought from loot: Ta-ta Tamer ($29) - This bra is as awesome as you guys said. Absolutely no bounce. I LOVE the headlight covers. Zoom Knee Shorts ($50) - I'm a size 8 from the chart and bought an 8. I'm glad I didn't get a 6 because they hit me right above the knee and a...
