Re: Age-groups awards

I run for medals. I do not enter fun runs. Age has gotten the best of me and now I race for AG awards. I will sometimes enter a race if I know there will be lots of good random draw prizes but no AG awards. :)

Re: Ocean Triathalons dealing with swallowing saltwater

I will have to find some rough water to swim in this year. I would like to travel and do some half Ironmans for sure. My Wife was looking at Cozumel Ironman. We were there last year for holiday only. That is what got me thinking about Ocean swims.

Thanks for advice. Lift my head higher for sure.

Ocean Triathalons dealing with swallowing saltwater

I have only been swimming in ocean once on a holiday last year. I accidentally swallowed some seawater while snorkelling and proceeded to vomit strongly. I was wondering how people deal with racing in saltwater. I guess the easy solution is just don't swallow any but I am sure it has to happen to ev...

FROSTBITE RIVER RUN 5KM

After lasts week 10k race in a blizzard I was looking forward to a 5km race on a hard packed surface. Lasts week prep was 3 days off before the race. This time the day before the 5km I did an easy 40 minute jog. Did that hurt me I am not sure. I was a little sluggish in my warmup before the race but...

FREEZE YER GIZZARD BLIZZARD RUN

This was my 3rd time in International Falls Minnesota for this race. It is in January every year. It has been going on for about 34 years. It is across the Border from Fort Francis in Ontario. This race has as many Canadians as Americans. People come from Thunder Bay, Kenora, Fort Francis, Winnipeg,...

Re: Training Advice for Ironman Distance

On another note regarding rules. I am totally stoked I don't need to wear a top during the run. that is the stupidest racing rule and very annoying for me personally. I never wear a top on hot running days. When I did my first Triathalon 30 years ago there was no such rule. Heck we changed naked in ...

Re: Training Advice for Ironman Distance

Thanks for the advice. So super long bricks not necessary good to know. Lesson learned about going hard in middle of an Ironman. I had been leapfrogging an experienced Ironman finishing friend of mine on the bike all day and I wanted to put them away before the run. Which was really really really re...

Re: Training Advice for Ironman Distance

OK when I say the heat was a factor what I mean is. it was hot but I don't know if that affected me. What I do know is that I felt really good on the bike so with 60Km to go on the bike I just cranked it. Somewhere in the middle of cranking it my stomach would not keep down the gels I was eating. I ...

Training Advice for Ironman Distance

I have attempted one Ironman before. Louisville was hottest conditions I have ever encountered. I dropped out at 17 mile of the run. My question is I want to know how often people do a race simulation for this distance. I am thinking once a month to do a long ride followed by a long run. Gradually b...

Re: First Ironman

Just my two cents. I did Ironman Louisville in Kentucky two years ago. It was stinkin hot. Other than that I thought race was great. 2/3 of swim is with the current in a river. Bike I thought was not too hilly just no shade. The run was 2 loop course in the City on roads lots of crowd support. The f...

Re: Cross Fit games on TSN

I am still not quite sure how that contest works. There is no sound at the gym while I am working out. But the program is on the tvs in front of TM's. I see people doing exercises and I see people doing obstacle course. I also see people running and swimming so I have no idea what is going on.

Too bad you could not make it. At least it did not rain while we were running. Next run is this Sunday at 3pm at our house. Girlfriend is setting trail. We are at 104 Wordsworth Place. Past St. James almost to Unicity. South side of Portage. We call the Area Westwood. You can get to our house in fac...

Look forward to possibly seeing you. We looked at buying a house on that street and on Overdale. If you don't find us follow the chalk or flour lines on the ground that is our trail.

Re: Swamp Donkey

Our runs are never much more than 5km. If the trail is being set through mud or bush we call that (Shiggy). I don't know why. You will be warned ahead of time to bring clean clothes to change into. WE are doing a run on Thanksgiving day at the Assinbione Park Pavillion at 3pm. The week after on Octo...

Yes there is a Hash HOuse Harrier in Winnipeg. We start meeting on Sundays at 3pm this weekend. This Sunday I am setting trail at Kildonan Park. We meet at the Witches Hut at 3pm.

The Hashers had two coed teams this year. There were some more part time Hashers on two other teams as well.

You are welcome for the giggle. I grew up in Ontario. Ran all the road races and cross country throught the province. My parents and sister and uncles live in Barrie now. But we grew up in Toronto. Re: Swamp Donkey

Thinking about it the next day I should have dropped my pack and ran out for the Check point #18. If I was taking too long I could have come back. I should have given myself 20 minutes to get there and back. We could see the flag across a swamp. I hope that does not hurt our placing too much. Dan wa...

Re: Swamp Donkey

Myself and Finnloper are doing Swamp Donkey. I think this is our 5th year. Our respective living partners are both on other teams. We are so canoeing over to Falcon Lake Resort and biking back to Falcon Lake town. I don't know where the bush crashing will take place. If I remember I will wear a Runn...
