My favourite "snack" is plantaine chips...they are not quite the same as banana chips. In my opinion plantaine chips are way more tasty. :)

Hill Training or tempo runs

Everyone knows that the base of your training should be gradually building up mileage to increase endurance. Once this is achieved, what do most people focus on in terms of there training? Some people work on hill training to increase strength and others go work on interval training or tempo runs. I...

Yes, I have heard a great deal about hitting the dreaded "wall". I personally have never experienced it, but I have heard that proper training before hand is key to avoiding the wall altogether. Hitting the wall usually happens in marathons since you are running beyond the recommended 32km LSD in yo...

Some great cushioning shoes to try out are The Mizuno Wave Creation and The Asics Gel Nimbus.

Both shoes provide great comfort with the right amount of cushioning.

audio books during your runs

One of my friends listens to audio books when he runs to keep him occupied during his more long, slow distances. I initially thought this was pretty weird but as I thought about it, it could be pretty time consuming and keep your mind off the fatigue. I was just wondering if anybody else here in the...

ING Ottawa Marathon and Half Marathon

Hey everyone, I recently registered to participate in the ING Ottawa Half Marathon. I am looking to get a sub 2:00 time and wondering if this is the race for this to happen. I heard the weather can play a big factor since it is pretty hot around that time of year. I just wanted some input and what y...

Congrats on registering for the full! Since you had a great finishing time at ATB, you should be able to complete a full marathon.

Just make sure you do another long run, like 32km to build some extra endurance!

Shoes typically last between 500 - 700km. You will begin to notice that you will be getting less support especially if you have a stability or motion control type shoe, which can lead to knee pain and eventually injuries. Once you try on a new pair of shoes, you will realize the difference and see h...

I love chocolate milk, tastes great and provides protein at a good price!

I am more of a carb supplement person.. especially prior to a race. I believe it helps me in terms of long distance running rather then a 10k for example.
