Re: Suddenly Sunday

Ran in the afternoon instead of first thing in the morning - easy 7km down to the lake and back. Beautiful with the sun slanting through the trees, but man, the half-block I had to do along Queen Street (in the Beaches) reminded me why I usually go out first thing on Sundays!

Re: Frigid back-to-work Tuesday

Rest day today, which is just as well since Toronto is getting its first REALLY COLD day here. And I left the house this morning to find someone had rifled through our car overnight. No damage and they only took some loose change, but still: boo.

Vacation in the middle of training?

I'm thinking about signing up for the Scotia half in Toronto in October - it would be my second half (doing the TO Women's Half in May). I'm still a newbie and my goals at this point are modest, mostly to enjoy myself and avoid injury, and for the half in May I've found a nice 24-week very gradual p...

Re: Welcome 2012 Sunday Run!

Nice moderate 10K done this morning - started out in sun, ended in pouring rain, but thankfully the rain only really got bad in the last km or so. Got changed and had a stretch after, then straight over to the neighbours' for an excellent New Year's brunch. Definitely a good start to the year!

Re: Friday, The Eve Before New Year's Eve Day

5.5K this morning on the ice and slush, then I was off to fight the grocery store crowds for New Year's Eve provisions - came out to find I'd locked my keys in the car! Fortunately DH was off today as well, so he was able to come to the rescue. Now I'm facing the realization that our usual quiet NYE...

Re: A Merry Christmas Sunday!

Merry Christmas, all! Once my breakfast settles, I'm looking forward to a Christmas Day run with my brand-new Garmin! Bonus points to my non-runner DH for picking a great gift.

Re: Start of Holidays Wednesday!

I was planning to run this afternoon after work, but by the time I got through the last of the accursed holiday shopping, the rain had set in for real - postponing the run till tomorrow. Although I probably could have used it today - I'm feeling very tightly wound this afternoon. I like Christmas ju...

Re: Twas the Last Monday Before Christmas

Rest day today - have just finished baking sugar cookies for the little guy to decorate and give to his teachers. This seemed like a saner idea before I totalled it up and realized that between kindergarten and daycare, the number of 'teachers' adds up to EIGHT people!

Re: Maniac Chat Sunday

Easy 6K this morning, as I start my veeeerrrrrrry gradual, veeeeerrrry gentle 24-week training plan for the TO Women's Half next May. It's not super-cold here yet, but chilly enough to make me start thinking about some things I'll want/need when the real winter arrives. (I know, I know, some would c...

Re: Hump Wednesday

5km this morning before a major cleaning day... spent four hours reorganizing the house and paring down junk while still in my running gear, because I knew that if I stopped for a shower, I would lose my motivation to CLEAN ALL THE THINGS! I don't know how it got to be mid-December already, but the ...

Re: Wed-nes-day

Easy 4.5km around the neighbourhood this afternoon. After hardly running at all in November due to a pulled muscle, I'm trying to get back on track this month and NOT overdo it again. (Although I'm still a newbie, so even my "hard" days would practically be a day off for some of you guys, ...

Re: Jungfrau marathon - DNF

Wow, what an amazing effort! I've taken a couple of vacations in the Lauterbrunnen area (Gimmelwald) and hiked some of the route that the run portion of the Inferno triathlon uses, and I cannot imagine running anywhere around that area!! My hat is off to you for getting as far as you did.
