Re: Labour Day (yeah,with a 'U')

Debating whether to run now, or wait till this evening when it's supposed to cool down. Problem with the latter strategy is that (a) I'm not a big fan of evening runs and (b) then I won't want to run again at 6 tomorrow morning. Guess I'd better go get dressed...

Re: sunrise Saturday

Phew! 32k done (plus an extra km walk at the end), for the first time ever. Granted, it took me 4:09:20, but still, I'm feeling pretty good about it. Now to let DS play video games so I can take a nap...

Re: sunrise Saturday

Wow, I'm not the first one up! Getting ready to head out for a long run - distance TBD depending on temperature/legs, but I have a route in mind that I can stretch to make it my first 32km if the running gods are smiling on me. It'll be slooooooooowww, though, especially as it's hot and muggy out. (...

Would have been in on the 8's if I'd woken up just a bit earlier - 6.25k for me today.

Re: Humid, sticky Tuesday

7k tempo-ish (as 'tempo' as I could manage in the steamy weather, which wasn't that speedy). Temperature was gross, but it looked beautiful out this morning with mist hanging in the low-lying areas.

Re: Friday, finally!

Gave myself a generous amount of time to recover from last weekend's 30k, with just walking the last few days. Getting set to head out for my first run of the week, distance TBD.

Re: Midsummer's Mess 15K

Well done! It really was a bit ridiculous, wasn't it? I found the distance markers wildly inconsistent - some were up to 0.25k longer or shorter than expected. Particularly cruel for the 30k was having the 28k sign only about 500m past the 27k one.

And La, thank you for volunteering! I probably came down a bit hard on the volunteers in my report, when obviously the real issues were coming from the top.

Re: Midsummer Night's 30k

Congrats. I can't help say I told you so I terms of race organization but you're definitely on your way to sub 5. Just keep up the volume and make sure to get a few 32-35ks in. I don't blame you for an 'I told you so', but I guess I had to see for myself! I've done a few runs with the Toronto Women...

Midsummer Night's 30k

(Sorry, can't think of a more creative title...) I went into the run with only very modest expectations, both in terms of my own performance (it was my first-ever crack at 30k and I was just planning to use it as a training run), and of the race itself, since I've heard some very negative reviews, p...

Taking it easy today after the Midsummer Night's Run. Full report to follow - pleased with my result and overall enjoyed myself, but felt like it was poorly organized.

Re: Saturday at The Fair

Running the Midsummer 30k this evening - feel a bit disoriented trying to prepare for an evening race! I'll be a marshal, but not sure where my post will be. My plan is to run down to the ferry docks from home (7.2K, taking the long way). I will TRY to keep my pace slow. ETA: Just mapped it and it'...

Re: What? Wednesday?

Fairly speedy 8.5k this morning - including passing the very funniest intersection in Toronto: Condor & Queen Victoria. (I wish I had drawing skills, so that I could make a cartoon of that).

I'm going to take rest days tomorrow & Friday before the Midsummer 30k on Saturday evening.

Re: Saturday

Moved the long run to Saturday again - 26km done in 3hrs 10mins, for another new "longest run ever". I'll be doing a very mini taper this week for the Midsummer 30k next Saturday, even though I'm really looking at that as more of a training run than a race.
