Chia Seeds

Not sure if there's an existing topic on chia seeds...but picked up a bag at Costco and just wondering how you eat/use them.

I just sprinkled some on my apples and Greek Yoghurt for breakfast...

The package said to use in salads, muffins etc.

Re: How cold is too cold?

I have only one thing to add re:duct tape...I used to put it on my shoes, but had issues with it falling off so I started duct-taping the top of the socks themselves...worked like a charm - blocked the wind and didn't come off. My DH uses clear tape on his socks with the same results. That's what I...

Re: 2012 - the year that was...

2012 was my worst year ever since I started running. :( I’ve been plagued with injuries that kept me from running. Each time I came back something else would “break” (not literally) and I’d have to take time to heal. It was also the year I DNF’d my very first race ever. I only completed two events d...

Made the yummiest/easiest fudge last night. I rarely make fudge b/c it never sets - this was fool proof. 3 cups sugar 3/4 cup butter 2/3 cup evaporated milk Mix these ingredients and bring to a boil for 5 minutes - stir constantly. Add: 1 pkg chocolate chips 1 jar Fluff (7.5 oz) 1 tsp vanilla Mix u...

Quick shovel, followed by easy 5 km. -11C/-16WC, overcast, 1-2 cm snow overnight. Used shovelling as part of warmup. Took new trail shoes outside for a run. They felt pretty good. Overall, nice winter run. Hey I did that this morning too before I left for work...warmed me up nice for the walk. :) I...

Re: Injury Poll - since January 1, 2012

I severely pulled a calf muscle while training for the Winnipeg Police Services Half last spring. I tried to take two weeks off to let it heal so I could run the race, but 4 miles into it I had to pull out. (First DNF ever... :( :( ) The calf is still tight from time to time, but I am now back to ru...

Having someone on the team who raced MTB at Falcon made for some very easy check points on the bike, after the paddle.

How did your teams place?

Well that was certainly fun! Anyone else blow the NAV to CP 14? South of the Swamp on a Vertical Rock Outcrop. Too bad there is only one Summer race here in Winnipeg. There certainly seem to be a wide variety of participants out there today. I wonder if some shorter events Sprints (20 KM) would fly...

Re: Swamp Donkey

Falcon has amazing mountain bike trails - one of my fave Manitoba technical areas to ride. Any chance we will ride some of those trails? Back in Ontario there was very little use of the technical single track, so I wonder if I will be able to see enough to find the trails the next time I have some ...

Re: Swamp Donkey

Overall in the 5 years we've race this we've averaged 7-8 hours to finish this race. We've tried for the advanced course - first time nearly DNF'd...second time missed the cutoff by about 10 minutes...it's a tough race, but it's set up so that advanced and beginner racers can all race it and still b...
