doing whatever you can stick to sounds like a cop out to me. am i the only one who eats certain vegetables because they're good for me? i'd enjoy 150 calories of ice cream much, much more than a plate of vegetables, but i know that eating veggies is good for my health. sure, i can say, "well, ...

Re: Article: Running Is The Worst Way To Get Fit
Maybe if the author had made the argument that running is not the best, instead of saying it's the worst, it would have been more acceptable?

Re: Creatine
My advice on supplements is go to a body building store. my advice would be to ask your doctor. and if your doctor doesn't know, ask him/her to do some research and get back to you (that's why they went to school for all those years...). research studies are great on a population level to say that ...

Re: Ultra slacker on the News
Yup that was me. 10 houses got hit and mine was the first and the worst. My entire suite is gutted and I have to move (well technically I could go back but it will be months before it's fixed). I can't stay at my mom's because they can't have dogs in the building. Currently sleeping on a friend's c...

Creatine
there is a relatively strong evidence base to support creatine supplementation in combination with resistance training in older adults, to improve muscle strength and to offset age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia). i found at least one study that suggests that it's beneficial even in the absence of ...

i wish media articles like this would include links to the actual studies when they report them - for those who want to read the actual source. anyway, good news is that the article is open access! http://www.bmj.com/content/354/bmj.i3857" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; there's a fair...

Re: ORW Weather Forecast . . .
... but my understanding was the choice was made at 4 hours with 10K to go which could be 2 hours which is still only 6. I may have understood wrong though They rerouted people were at the 24K mark after 4 hours, so would have still had 18K to go. They cut off the loop which was from about 24-35K. ...

Re: ORW Weather Forecast . . .
Probably already me mentioned above? From my understanding they made the decision to shorten the race around 11:00am but may not have actually announced it to take in effect till approx 11:30. Roughly 4.5 hours in to the race . Allowing for the wave starts etc, I was at the start line and the last ...

it seems like it would be an interesting cycle: excessive running can lead to low testosterone levels and low testosterone can make you so tired that you can work out efficiently. how do you find the right balance? or was he endocrinologically** unlucky? i mean, there are plenty of underweight mara...

Re: The new Ryan Hall
how do you go from being so chronically low in testosterone that you're too fatigued to run to being able to put in hours of training each day? that's the missing link for me. I suspect that his endocrine system was way out of whack from the demands of the training and the low bodyweight needed to ...
