Re: Sulphur Springs 100 Mile Race Report
That's amazing. Your walking speed is the same as your running speed? 11hrs and 11hrs?

Re: Walkers vs runners on downtown sidewalks
Doesn't link anymore. I just hate groups (ie 2 or more) whether 2 walkers, 2 runners, 1 person + dog or more: I run commute a couple times a week - run around ppl. Once about a month ago a big guy and his gal were walking aimlessly towards me. (downtown) I was off to the side but they were giving me...

Re: Bread Machines
My mom has one. She bought it in let's say 1999? We made lots of loaves and cinnamon buns. They were delicious.
The machine has just been sitting there since 2000 at least.

Re: New ATB route
I won't be doing the race again but to me the hill out of the valley and then the gentle 3K downhill to the finish were integral to the character of the race. completely agree! while weather changes year to year can leave great arguments about "weather" your race really "counted"...

Re: STWM now IAAF GOLD LABEL
Canal, have you been to the expos in the states? It's as black and white as the crowd issue. I failed to see Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Asics having stores, and failed to have some sort of unofficial merchandise. Yes our market is 10% of that of the States, so its easy to understand, but hard to acc...

Re: STWM now IAAF GOLD LABEL
Jwolf, I don't doubt that it has done very well for the elites. From its own self promotion: highest road race laurels Canadian marathon to achieve this level and only the fourth in all of The Americas to be so honoured. Boston, Chicago and New York, which are all part of the World Marathon Majors s...

Re: STWM now IAAF GOLD LABEL
Other than the baggage snafu a few years back. I'm quite surprised on the gold label, which is a pure marketing aspect. Not that I'm really trying to put down the race, it IS well run, but comparing it to NY, BOS, and CHI is like black and white. First and foremost, the crowds (which CAN be good, bu...

Re: Ottawa Marathon 2015!
Good luck!
I'm also trying to get my dad on board to run. He hasn't run a marathon since 2008, he's now 65 and I think it'd be a great weekend. He was a 3:30-3:40 runner in those days (PB of 3:24) but now he needs a 4:10 for a BQ. I'm certainly stoking the fires in the right direction.

Re: Garmin 620 on Amazon
Don't buy the 620 from Sportinglife (slightly off topic). They wanted $620 for it ?!??!?!?!? Vs $500 at RR and EVERYWHERE else (this is the one with the HR monitor).
Not that I'm really even in the market. But $120 more? egad!

Re: Salomon Snowcross
I purchased a pair of the speedcross 3's with goretext for the winter. Don't know if that's the same thing? So far - decent on trails, slightly uncomfortable running long distances on pavement. I took it out for a 20km hybrid trail/pavement run and my feet survived. It will be my main winter commuti...

Re: Ellipticals
Yeah I have no use for it and it would go where my bike on a trainer is (that hasn't seen the most use but will "one day") but I thought it was time to make my wife happy with this - she still uses the TM but for walking right now. To her credit she's used one at the gym fairly regularly s...

Re: Debunking the 1% incline myth and other treadmill myths
Just try running on a woodway with slats instead of a sliding belt... the shock absorption ruins pushing off ability so I think perceived exertion is higher than outside. I've come to the following ratios in my head of progressive intensity setting the TM to = what it works out to outdoors/feels lik...

My wife wants one and I've finally agreed to let her have it. I never plan to use it as I find the motion awkward, and it makes my hip click.

I think I'm starting to see the "light" There's this thing call lumens, and mine is only 38 apparently and well it's okay for me, everyone else seems to have these crazy bright ones. I'm totally jealous - running down the beltline in the AM (well before the time change) in the pitch black ...

Good luck getting past all the half walkers after the red hill - looks like we're all on the same 3 foot wide path for 2-3k. Can't see any problems there.

Re: Road to Hope Race Change
I signed up for the half after a STWM fail. Anyone else racing? My team is sending 11 peeps to the half and 4 to the 5k.
Although I'm only racing the half as well, I need revenge from my 2010 race. where I just fizzled out at the end of the parkway.

Re: Garmin 920xt...
There's been no problems for me using the chipset in the F2. I love trolling the forums there (garmin forums) where the devout point to fellrnr as a god and the only voice that these devices suck. And then I show them my maps. Mine have been 99.9999% accurate, and its one of two reason why I upgrade...

Re: Mississauga vs Toronto Marathon (May)
Interesting facts on the numbers. It does give credit to Toronto being the faster course - 2x as many people and 5min faster.
Also to compare:
STWM (Full)
Marathon | 3662 participants
(2332 men & 1273 women with average time : 4:11:53.59)

A little thinner than my F2. Had this come out 6 months ago I would have bought one... now I'm good. Not sure I feel the colours. Like the all black of my watch. Easier to wear with a suit :) But it does make my watch feel bulky  Which is one of the reasons why I upgraded from the 910. That and...

I saw that too today. I still think they should give preference to first time qualifiers. Like 5-10,000 spots. Have qualifications open for a few weeks with the time qualifiers the same way it is, but like the way they compare everyone's relative speed over their standard, just bulk everyone togethe...
