Thanks, all. I've done this race twice now. It's so different, racing at night. Definitely gonna keep it in mind next year.

Fort Whyte Alive Twilight Run 2013 - 10K

Short version: beat last year's time by almost 3 minutes, despite higher temp &humidity. Garmin said 1:05:25. Awesome! Long version: Cloudy &light showers earlier in day. But no trace of that by race time. Temp &humidity kinda high for a good race: 21C/humidex 28, clear. Would try to run...

Re: Training for Multiple Events over Summer

Thanks for the advice. Sorry it took so to follow up. Didn't get a chance to work on my training plan until today. I did end up removing several of the longer long runs, since they fell on a race day or day after a race day. It's more difficult to use a race as speedwork and move the long run to mid...

Training for Multiple Events over Summer

Hi, all. Time to pick the brains of the smart &experienced folks here at RM. [Nothing like buttering you up to start :D ] Last few summers, I've trained for several races over the summer, usually finishing with a half marathon or similar in the fall. To do so, I've usually laid a half marathon p...

Pretty cool 8) My summer is already booked with other trail races. None quite as long as 50 km, but should still be fun.

Re: Running after ankle sprain

Several years ago, I twisted my ankle quite badly during a training run. This was ~2 weeks from a planned half marathon. I DNS'd the race: could walk fine but running even a few meters caused sharp pains. Don't remember exactly, but it may have been 3-4 weeks before i resumed running. Even then, it ...

Habs, I can really sympathize with your not getting that finish time you were looking for. OTOH, I am *very* impressed with the time you did get, especially considering the pain you had to fight thru to get it. And ain't it great to have friends like Size5 to help you when you really need it?
