Re: Running/Training Goals 2011

I had a great time in 2010 and set lots of PB's since it was my first full season of running and tri's. For 2011, here are some of my goals...at least for now: 1) Stay healthy and happy. 2) Break a 2 hour 1/2M, hopefully in Vancouver on May 1st. Ran a 2:05 and change in Toronto a few months ago but ...

Re: Tuesday thread

I battled the snow this morning to go swimming, then did a tempo run at lunch. It was nice and I had only gusts of wind a couple times on the 40' run. Ran along the Canal and the footing was ok. The sun was shining so I actually enjoyed the run a lot. Not sure about my pace times since I haven't che...

Re: TRX Anyone

Here's a link that someone I know has used to order a TRX. Best price out there, I'm pretty sure. I haven't jumped onto the TRX bandwagon yet 'cause I've been resisting and my coach has given me a custom functional training program. I've been sore for weeks! Ouch! http://www.top2dvd.com/trx-suspensi...

Re: Windy, Wet & Wild Wednesday

It's my yoga/core day but I'm trying underwater hockey for the first time this afternoon! My fiance plays 3x a week and has been trying to drag me away from fun stuff like swimming, biking and running to try it out. Now that it's the off-season, I have no excuses. Wish me luck! I hope I don'...

Re: Memorable IM Marathon Finish

I've seen that video before. I'd like to think that what we know more about nutrition/fueling etc. now than back then, but we still see athletes end up like that during endurance events. It's not pretty when people finish their races like this, although I agree that it takes determination to finish ...

Re: Mid-Level Tri Bike - What's my price range?

My budget is $1000 for everything (bike, helmet, shoes), but I'm flexible in that if I can spend a little more to get a lot more bike, I will That was mine (excluding accessories) as well a little over a year ago when I decided I would get into triathlons. I went shopping in the fall and found a cu...

Re: Garmin pros/cons?

This is a good point. There are still so many people that complain that a course is "long" because it measured long on their Garmin vs. the certified distance. I keep my Garmin on autolap measuring kilometre splits because I don't like to press buttons during the race, but I always expect...

Re: Running and Yoga

Hot yoga rocks! I started going 2x per week about a month ago and I've noticed a huge improvement in my flexibility and core strength. I'm a big fan of vinyasa/flow since it's a killer workout. That being said, I probably wouldn't do this type of class after a run since it would be tough.

Re: Garmin pros/cons?

I recently bought a Garmin 310xt, along with the quick release kit and bike speed/cadence monitor since I wanted multi-sport capabilities. I use it mostly for running at this point and it's definitely not a necessity. Before this, I used a Suunto T1 HRM/timer and mapped out runs ahead of time with G...

I'm in the same boat and think that I'm going to get the Kurt Kinetic Road Machine (a fluid). Locally, it's about $400 plus tax but you can order it from the USA for $380 including a ton of accessories. Cycleops is supposed to be good too.

NCM's my back-up plan should I not do the Vancouver half in early May. Either way, it would be my first race as a married woman! If I do Vancouver, my taper week would coincide with a mini-honeymoon. :) I'm not sure that I want to stress about running in the weeks leading up to the wedding though, w...
