Re: What's for dinner?
I had quinoa, mixed vegetables and pre-flavoured coconut curry tempeh. I've never had tempeh before and I don't think I would get it again. It has an odd flavour to it. I will try tempeh again sometime though.

Re: Victoria Goodlife - October 7, 2012
The photos have inspired me to a new goal for the May 2013 Calgary marathon. Lose 20 pounds and 20 minutes. Even if you do nothing else different in your training, losing that weight would likely result in the better time that you want. :) Talk about weird, I used a calculator you had found with re...

I like the 609-008 one, and the one where I'm jumping up after the finish line. For the first time ever, I might buy my race photos.

Last night before bed, I threw the ingredients for a lentil and barley stew into the crockpot. It cooked overnight and I woke up to a lovely smelling home. I had some of the stew for both lunch and supper today, and will have more for lunch tomorrow, and will probably eat it all weekend too!

Fantastic day for a race! I have 1:52:21 on my watch which is a personal best for me. I'm quite pleased with my time and had a tough but great run.

Re: Chilly Sunday
it is going o be sunny here in Victoria highs to 20. Well, not ideal, but still nice. Could be a whole lot worse! Stay hydrated, and have fun! Use sun screen. ;) pretty ideal here actuall, especially for the halfers who will be done by 9:30. Our marathoners will be finishing at noonish so that will...

I have a fear of over-sleeping my alarm clock, so I will set a couple of watch alarms, both alarms on my alarm clock, and two alarms on my phone. It's overkill, but it lets me get some sleep. If I only set one alarm, I'll wake up every two minutes to check the time. doesn't siri wake you up? Yup. T...

I picked up some of the disposable drawstring bags for work, but at home I use a little teapot like the image above. It makes about 1.5 cups of tea.

Taper madness here too. I'm not sleeping well, and I have too much nervous energy and I only want to eat junk food. Tomorrow should be an interesting day at work as I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to focus on anything. One of my co-workers is also doing the half and he's looking to f...

CFAX has some of the most up-to-date news, especially during storms when there are closures. I've only ever used their website though. I'm a CBC girl and don't know any of the other local radio stations.

Scrummy and others who've tried the Banana Nut Bread - I'm really wanting to try this one, but leary of the "artificial flavouring". While I know it's got banana pieces/slices, are you finding any hint of artifical banana flavouring? Send me your address in a PM and I'll ship you my small...

It's super windy out there tonight, and I just ran part of the race route. Let's hope for anything but wind on race day!!! I was running with the wind at my back and even that was difficult.

Dessert is Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies that I made earlier this week. HM, do you have the recipe for these cookies handy? I have a "go to" pumpkin cookie recipe, but would love to try something else this fall! It's not a recipe worth sharing. I found the cookies to be very cake-like in...

I'm running the half, like abbhain mentioned. I'm oblivious to the hills on this course as it's part of my regular running routes and I run parts of the course at least once per week, given that I live about 1km from Dallas Rd. Dallas Road has sort of a big hill (compared to some of the other hills ...

I made Pumpkin Soup in the Vitamix tonight. I made some on Sunday using a recipe from the Vitamixr website but it was too thick (my co-worker thought I was eating mustard for lunch on Monday) and the flavours weren't right. I used the same ingredients tonight (had leftover ingredients) but switched ...

Thank you for this reminder! I won a RoadID gift card in April but I haven't ordered anything yet. I really need to do that as I do sometimes run without ID and without a pocket to put any in.
I'm sure the family is very glad that you were there that day!

Re: Anyone know of any good resourses for veggie meals?
I've cooked up some lentils and then thrown them into a pan like ground beef and cooked them with taco seasoning, hot sauce, onions, peppers, etc. and then used the "meat" in corn tortillas, topped with all of the normal taco toppings like tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, cheese, cilantro......

Re: "Artificial sweeteners: sugar-free, but at what cost?" H
I agree that the situations exist where some people will drink/eat more if an item is sweetened artificially. I'm guilty of that phenomenon. Back in university, I would go to McDonalds and get a diet coke and a bigmac meal. If I wanted real coke, then I would only get a happy meal (with the toy, not...
