Running is neither racers primary sport, just go hard guys but don't try to win the race in the first 20k, the race will be won in the final 3k.

Sorry James, I'm going with Mark 2.0, only because I think he might have more competitive fire in him, not based on anything else. Rip it up boys!!

Re: Batch cooking

I've learned there is no end of things that can go in a freezer! I'm a big fan of big batch cooking because it takes the same amount of time to make one dish as it does to double that dish (well almost the same amount of time). I've made: Home made egg mcmuffins Protein pancakes Pumpkin pancakes Bre...

Another 20 miler in the bank. Conditions here still aren't great. It's that spring thaw with oatmeal snow, ice and huge puddles. Went for a walk later in the pm and woah, the legs were tired.

Re: Weighty Wednesday

An unexpected but very enjoyable 10k this morning on the TM. Are you on call this week? I started my morning run around 5:30 and thought of you since it seems you are usually almost DONE by that time! Long run this morning since we will be traveling this weekend. Off to work and due to the late sta...

Re: BMO Vancouver Marathon- new course announced

Yay, Carla! I just got an email encouraging people to register claiming the race "will sell out." I might be proven wrong again, but I'm still skeptical that they will sell 10,000 half-marathon spots. They haven't said anywhere (recently) how close they are. Isn't the marathon likely to s...

Re: Race pace workouts in marathon training

I wasn't trying to be bitchy. :) I just meant that if you are aiming for a relatively easy pace (relative to your fitness) then the idea of "race pace" runs according to the Higdon plan might not be relevant. Oh I totally know that! I was just scared you were going to ask me an actual pac...

Re: Race pace workouts in marathon training

I'm not sure I've ever really been in the " suffer" part of the marathon. I've been there from GI issues but not running issues. I've wanted to be done, but mostly from being sick of running.... If that's the case, how are you choosing your race pace? It could be that your desired race pa...

Re: Race pace workouts in marathon training

My long runs are done by feel...I don't pace them or know my pace until I'm done. I only use the watch for distance. I may have an idea of what the pace is but I don't alter it. I never come close to MP in a long run though. The only time I go MP or faster is in a race (5K's usually), other than th...

Re: How do you stick to your healthy eating habits?

In the past few months I've started buying pre-cut fruit trays when I get groceries. Yes, I realize this is lazy and I am buying unnecessary packaging. However, the trays go in recyclying and I actually eat the fruit because it is cut up for me. Small thing that has helped me. In my house we have a...
