Re: Jwolf's Victoria Half-marathon (October 12)

Congrats on your race. There's a lot of satisfaction to be had from pacing a race really, really well, and it sounds like you did it!

Re: Where is Wednesday?

Ran early, but haven't had a chance to post anything until now! 6k for me. I ran past downtown this morning, and I've had Bruce Springsteen's "Darkness on the Edge of Town" stuck in my head ever since! Kind of eerie to see a big dark section of the city.

Re: Slightly Soggy Saturday

Amazing fall day here - might be one of the last days for running in shorts and short sleeves! I went out for my first run since the marathon last week. 8k on legs that still feel pretty sluggish.

And I'm even more of a heel than usual because I SKIPPED THE RACE I TEMPTED HER INTO. OK, I wasn't going to bring it up, but YOU SKIPPED THE RACE YOU TEMPTED ME INTO  Meh, even without the sprained ankle, I knew I wasn't heading into my finest race. It just added some extra uncertainty to the ...

Hammie's Portland Marathon 2014

Portland Marathon 2014. Long story short (if you’re in a hurry, or just get bored): undertrained, recently injured, incredibly hot, very slow… and very enjoyable. Especially the beer. Long story? Settle in. DH and I signed up for this quite a while ago, before I realized how hectic this year would b...

Re: Mangled-Toe Monday

My toes are fine, but I have a nice cankle on the left. I'm hoping that the swelling and pain go down quickly, but I might just be calling the next two weeks a really aggressive taper!

Re: Army Run Sunday

A DNF for me at the Blitz Duathlon this morning. Rolled my ankle 4k into the first 7k run, and I decided to be sensible and not put Portland in 2 weeks in jeopardy. Walked out, iced it in the medical tent with the fantastic volunteers, then headed home. I wasn't the only one having problems - I was ...

A really nice 30k done. Great weather, spectacular fall colours, a great scenic route (parts of which I hadn't run before), and for the first time in ages, I didn't feel totally wiped out.

Terry Fox Sunday

Terry Fox runs are going everywhere this morning. I was out early enough to watch all the set up here.

A sluggish 20k for me this morning.

Re: Waterdrops in every direction Saturday

ran 10k today. My first run in a week - I got a cold this week that has been tough to shake, and I've been coughing too much to be comfortable running.

The tree carnage on the pathways is pretty shocking - downed branches and trees everywhere!

Re: Queen City Marathon

congratulations. you ran a very smart race, which is sometimes the hardest thing to do. I'm in exactly the same boat as you for Portland in a few weeks (running yes, training not really!), so I will try and channel my inner Habs to pace myself.

Well done on #8!

Banff Sprint Tri today - coldest swim of my life (13C - they actually shortened the Olympic distance swim to 750m because the water was so cold!), followed by a hilly but fun bike, and an uneventful and enjoyable run. 1:47 in the end. Great to meet runJrun for the first time, and good (as always) to...
