Congratulations! Thanks for the detailed report. Sounds like a very challenging race (and a wee bit dangerous too), but you got through it without too much damage. Sounds like you're in love with the event and I can see why! The pictures through the window in the rock are gorgeous. Perhaps one day ...

Feeling a little less afflicted, but it's a bummer that we didn't make it. Sigh. Too much going on in life and stress is taking it's toll.

But, my spirits are good, even if I'm hardly running

Things will look up again, I'm sure, and we'll see you at another race.

Very entertaining report, pics and all!

Who doesn't have things to learn? You enjoy racing. That's what matters!!! :)

For this little downtick there will be a bigger uptick - that's the course you've been setting, like it or not! :P

Sounds like a great post-race meal! Sorry I missed it.

Too bad about the rain, but it could have been worse (hot and muggy for example)

Congrats on the PB and hope to see you at another race soon. :D What's this Army thing.... will have to find out more about it.

Oh man! I mean dang! Why did I have to go and get sick and miss this?? Sounds like the best race ever and YOU are officially a middle of the packer. I ran one of my worst races (a 20K) there in 30 something weather. But, you were blessed with rain. Well done, Crash! Next thing you know, I'll...

Way to PB on the 5K! Nice speed workout. It's funny how mentally a 5K can last as long as a marathon, and be as hard on the body. In the end, a race is a race is a race... each goal is a unique, tough challenge. You're one guy who is always pushing himself to the next frontier. Your 18-minute 5K wil...

That's trail racin! Facing a decision every hill, how hard to push. It reminds me a passage from the quotes thread from last week: "It's very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn that the competition is against the little voi...

The short of it: Chip time: 53:35.7 Average pace: 5:22 Women's overall place for 10K: 38/198 Place: 7/54 for women aged 40-49 Maybe not a PW, but damned near. The longer of it: After a fabulous day of fun and mild debauchery at a friend's cottage near North Hero VT on the lovely Champlain islands, a...
