^ I maintain my initial stance that laziness on the part of the organizers plays into it Knowing both of the race directors personally, I know that this is not the case.... Loop courses very popular in ultras for a variety of reasons. So, you coming back to Ottawa for the 24 hr Transcendence Ultra ...

Re: Size of your running shoes
My normal shoes are size 9. My road shoes are 10.5, my trail shoes are 10. So yes, I subscribe to this. Interesting, don't you find your toes touching to the shoe when going downhill? I know it would likely be a sensory issue for me. Sorry late to reply. No actually. My feet don't slide around in t...

Very sad. Spoke to him a couple of times and he was always so humble and gracious. It was amazing to watch him run too. Incredible. He was still so fast, even while he was battling cancer. Super impressive.

Re: Julie Miller now running ultras
Very easy to cheat in ultras. No mats, just check in at aid station (sometimes, not always). Easy to cut the course. I think Julie is running with a GPS watch and a person the whole time so that her finish is not called into question. Oh and as small as the fields are, I've been in races and I'm com...

Re: New Trail Race - Sticks n' Stones Trail Race
I don't mind loops myself. I'll be doing a 24 h our in NJ in May - 1 mile loops
I'm looking forward to Sticks n' Stones as it's apparently a fast course. Loops can be fun as you see people a lot, doesn't get lonely, you get to be near your stuff regularly. Lots of advantages.

3 miles outside. It was a mild day so stuff started to melt. By the time I went out, it had cooled down just enough for the wet spots to freeze. So it was a challenging run, "is it water or is it ice". Slippy and short.

5 miles for me after dinner. I am always reluctant at the start of winter to get outdoors and run. Then I do and remember how much I love it. The cooler temps, when there's no wind and clear footing, awesome.

Great series, they have one near me in Barrie Ont as well (and Toronto and Burlington). The dates don't always work for me though for the series savings.
