Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Nope- I definitely look pregnant. I think I should get an extreme spectating medal: http://photos.mysportsshooter.com/viewphoto/17741-874-18153229/2/ (ps- my daughter is so cute!). :D Yes, she IS so cute. But no....you kinda don't look all that pregnant. I could still wear my regular winter coat th...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I have a good story that I figure HRMs would sympathize with (as both runners and people who have been pregnant). I was at a race yesterday since DH and my sister were doing it. So, I had the two kids and me at 8.5 months pregnant, outside in the cold while they ran for over an hour. M decided she ...

I just threw out a "Midsummer Night's Dream"- I have tried it about 3x and each time didn't love it. This time I actually really disliked it and it almost made me sick (must be a hormonal pregnancy thing).

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Hi All, No running from me right now (29 weeks! Only 11ish to go!). Lots of walking, hauling around kids, wrestling though, and still generally feeling good. The weather this week was perfect for running and I really miss it! I am going to start swimming some evenings soon, just to stay in shape as ...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Truism in parenting. One day they will go potty on their own. One day they will stop wanting their pacifier. One day they will give up the bottle or boob. One day they will stop wetting the bed. Every child is different and needs to be parented differently. Every parent is different and how they pa...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

II hope that when my child's teacher requests that she does something, she does it because she understands that it's the right thing to do - because the request isn't from left field. If the request is from left field, then, yes, I expect her to question it. This I agree with - I guess the thing is...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Just to be more clear, here is an example of an alternative, condensed (the actual argument probably went on much longer): Me: John, it is time for bed John: No! Me: Do you want to walk up the stairs, or have a piggy-back? John: No walk! No piggy back! Me: Do you want to go upside down up the stair...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I am following the power struggle discussion and like hearing all the insights. M is a very determined little toddler and I am finding parenting her exhausting. For example, we were at a coffee shop the other day and a person with a walker was there. M wanted to play with the walker (and the person ...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Aww, I am loving all the school/preschool stories. G and M are with a nanny 2.5 days a week while I work, and G is giving me the major guilt trip when I am home. He told me the other night he wants me to stay with him 'ALL the time and never ever ever go away to school.' (I work at school). Anyway, ...

Ahhh....good old reliable survival mode. How I know it well. Justin used to be up every night for a reason or another, but since we moved he has been the most reliable sleeper of the bunch. So are you suggesting Ann moves? Elora is a nice town Ann (and I know someone who would commute with you into...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

I don't expect my baby to sleep through the night, but I expect her to go down at a reasonable hour and stay asleep long enough for me to shower. Most nights, that is too much to ask. Ya, the reasonable hour thing always gets me. When my kids are going down at a normal time and I get some 'adult' t...

We don't sleep at our house either. Marianne is up about 3 times a night (and she sleeps in our room so it is not too bad, she just wants to lie across us), and Gavin is hit or miss. Sometimes he is up 3 times, other nights he sleeps right through. One day we will sleep, right? eme- I dream of the s...

Re: Hot running (newish) Momma's thread...

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. I'm having one of those days/weeks where I'm so overwhelmed by life that I just can't see how things are going to work out. Ditto over here. I'm trying to take a deep breath, not get too grumpy at my kids (it is not their fault I am having to do work stuff while I am with them), and ...

Aww, thanks everyone. I am excited too, and the word 'crazy' has crossed my lips a few times (although, Colleen makes it look so easy, so it has to be, right? RIGHT?). If my soon-to-be middle child was a bit more easygoing and not so, umm, 'determined' (or stubborn!) then I would be a bit more...

Re: "organic" food

I have a lot to say on this topic (i know, shocking for those of you who know me  ). I think the interesting thing I have noted from this topic is the 'what is in it for ME' aspect of organic (not in a bad way, I know we all have to spend our own $$ wisely). There are many different reasons to...

Running with kids in the heat?

My husband and I were talking about this last night. At 4pm yesterday it was 32C, feels like 41C. I drove by a guy running with two kids in the stroller on a street with no shade. Good/bad idea? I guess the kids get the breeze (a bit) and are not exerting themselves (while if they were at the playgr...

Re: Make ahead No-cook cold oatmeal!

I like it cold, and the cocoa ones are the best (cocoa and strawberry is my fav combo). My only caution is that if you are using frozen fruit then reduce the milk, or it is too liquidy. YUM.
