Re: Injury Poll - since January 1, 2012

Right calf & Achilles pain that has been constant for months. I have torn them (at sperate times) in the past and when I over do it the pain and stiffness returns. I took most of the spring and summer off, and cycled as my method of keeping fit. I have been lifting weights this fall to build ove...

Re: Soggy Saturday

It's a cold wet day here, and that is the forecast for the next several days. I got in a good run on the treadmill this morning, it was my longest run in almost 6 months; just 6km but it's progress, and no sign of any leg pain!

Re: Doonst returns to roads

Well done Sheldon. I have run the Borden races the past couple of years (usually the 10k) and always enjoyed it. It's much smaller than Ottawa of course, but being on the base and seeing the tanks & guns adds to the atmosphere. Congrats on getting back it it! :D

Re: On the shelf

Sounds like a reasonable, intelligent goal Doug. I, too am in the 50 group (52.5) and have been told that strength training will help me through the aging process. Though, I have different problems, I miss running with regular goals and have signed up with hubby for the relay at ATB. Maybe we will ...

I'll just keep copy and pasting this until it sinks in:
Excuse me?

You made your point the first time. Thanks for your input.
I am asking questions and am interested in others' opinions. I trust that sunk in.

Re: Lance steps down from Livestrong, dropped by Nike

I understand that should Lance be stripped of his titles, none of the top 3 finishers in any of those Tours tested clean. If pretty well everyone is (seemingly) taking some kind of PED, is it cheating? What is the definition of a cheater? Cheating is breaking the rules. Everyone was doing i...

Hard to see how a celebrity based charity can continue to thrive without it's celebrity. How about supporting a Canadian cancer charity? http://www.cancer.ca/ You mean one that spends money on (gasp!) actual research? And supports Canadians with cancer? It'll never work. jono lmao...sad but true

All parties doing the right thing. I suspect however that while LA may no longer be the Chairman, he'll still be a controlling factor in the foundation's activities for years to come. I'll still be wearing my Livestrong gear - 95% of people out there either won't recognize it or won't care; I'm not...

Re: On the shelf

Hitting the ball out of the rough was exactly where I found my problem. After thinking back on my summer, I realized that while my weight is at its lowest in 20 years :D ,I lost my upper body. A couple of people commented how thin I looked, and they are right; my neck and shoulders look so scrawny....

Re: How much is too much?

At my best my times are (relatively) slow, but I find when I take more rest I run much better and stronger. I need to run slower between races to build my base, and toss in some speed work once in awhile. What tends to do me in is I enjoy running and will want to run more often, only to pull a muscl...

Snowflake Series 2012-13

Hi guys, as you may know I haven't run much since my forgettable Spring Run Off in April. Right now just completing 5k is a struggle  however this cool (pun intended :P ), no frills series is back for its 18th year. Starting next month, the 4 race series - 3, 5k's and a 10 k on New Years's Day...

Re: Muskoka 70.3 anybody?

I hear there was a bike accident there yesterday. Apparently an elderly woman pulled out of a driveway and into the path of cyclists, causing a crash. One person broke their leg. A Toronto woman is charged for not making a safe turn after a cyclist was hit in yesterday’s Muskoka Ironman race. Huntsv...
