Re: One February Friday

Very tired this morning. Tried to make a number of excuses not to get out there but eventually my sensible brain woke up. Yesterday evening, after my normal 45min run to my car, I did another 1hr 20min of XC skiing with a friend and had a chance to catch up and discuss possible races. This morning's...

Re: Rabbit Thursday

Happy Chinese New Year! Beautiful out there this morning for a XC ski (about 50min). Just me and the groomer out there this morning... for the run in, I was quite impressed with the cleaning of the sidewalks. Just one are that I had to go X-country in calf high snow. No stair this morning - running ...

Re: Wednesday and the only day I LOVE WINTER...

1hr37min of XC Skiing this morning. Kind of hard going. Tracks were completely covered on the way back. Decided to bail on my run and just drive to work because wasn't sure what shape the sidewalks would be in this evening after about a foot of snow has come down (will make up that lost training tom...

Re: Toronto Storm Tuesday

Nice out there. An hour of XC in the Gats before work. Ventured off the Parkway for a bit which was nice. A couple of nice short steep downhills to keep you awake. Not a soul out there this morning. Usually see at least one person coming or going. 40min run in to work from the Gats. Dressed a bit to...

Re: It's just another manic Monday

A bit crisp this morning to start. 2hr XC ski in the Gats and then put on my pack and ran to work (about 37min). Normally don't weigh my pack but did this morning out of curiousity - about 17lbs + all the layers. Music Selection: Green Day, Killing Joke, Kings of Leon, Lenny Kravitz Have a great day...

May take the day off today. If I decide to go for a run later I will, otherwise, I won't... If I do, it will be just a short jaunt.

Have a great day everyone!

Re: We can dance if we want to - Saturday

I guess it is this one... Went to bed really early last night (about 8:00) which meant I was up really early this morning so went out and got back from my run before the sun came up. Was in my own microcosm because: a. It was dark. b. My headlamp made the snow look like the size of peas and could on...

Re: TGIF - Last Friday of January 2011

A great ski in the Gats. Felt pretty good and temperature was almost perfect. Aim was to do 2hrs and hit it pretty close (1hr 58min). Might try and aim for 20k next week (got 18.4km today). Ski was followed by a 35min run to work and climbing 14 floors of stairs. Calves were feeling it... Music sele...

55min of XC skiing before work and then the normal 20min run to work. There was actually people on the trail when I got there this morning - a first. Second day of running up 14 floors. Don't think it was any easier than yesterday but will now be a daily (weekday) thing. Music Selection: Arcade Fire...

Balmy out there this morning (-19 w/ w/c). This was supposed to be a 2 hour ski. My plan was to ski out an hour-ish and then turn around. So that is what I did, but obviously I was quite a bit faster coming home - 1hr 37min total. I could have doubled back but by the time I checked my watch skis wer...

A beautiful morning out there. About 10 deg warmer than yesterday. A light snow was falling which was nice. An hour in Gatineau Park XC skiing followed by 20min run to work (will run 20 min back to the car this evening as well). Music on the ski: The Decemberists. Music on the run: The Script. Have ...

Skipped on the ski before work. Too cold... Just ran to work (20min) and will run back. Looks like it might be back to 'normal' tomorrow morning so will get back to my skiing tomorrow morning.

Music selection: British Sea Power

Was eager when I went to bed to head out for an LSD this morning but my eagerness went to the floor when I saw the windchill. About 1hr 45min XC skiing in Gatineau Park before approx 20min run to work. The ski trails were nice and bright this morning - no headlamp required again this morning. Must have been the city lights bouncing off the low cloud. Light snow. Music selection: Depeche Mode & Foo Fighters. Second week...

An hour of XC skiing in Gatineau park this mornning. No need for a headlamp because of the beautiful full moon (except on some of the downhills). This was followed by a 40min run to work. Music for the ski was Black Eyed Peas and for the run was Killing Joke.

Felt really hard going this morning. Body was tired and probably at least a third of the trail was covered with drifting snow. Still a nice morning. 1hr 42min on the XC skis. The Smashing Pumpkins and Kings of Leon helped get me through the work out. After the ski, changed the shoes, downed a Nutri-...

About 53min of XC skiing in Gatineau Park, a quick change of footwear and a 40min run to work. A nice morning out there. Snow was just starting to come down as I was on my way back from my ski. Had a nice view of the Ottawa skyline as I was crossing Boul Raymond on the skis. Definitely not as cold a...

Drove to Gamelin parking lot early this morning and did 1hr 15min of XC skiing in Gatineau Park. Got some good tips from some co-workers on Friday that really helped me out this morning. Definitely easier going than last week (...it will come, I am sure). A great morning out there this morning. When...
