Turn-around TUESDAY...

Just back a from a long weekend in Niagara-on-the-Lake. I did not technically run all long weekend, but did a lot of juggling and playing soccer with my nefew.

This week, I WILL get back on track.

So I joined the "I feel totally stupid" club yesterday. Brought my bike downtown with me for what I hoped would be my first ride home from work. I figured I would get in a good 1hr cycle and then spend the rest of the evening with the family. So I get changed into my cycling gear, go pick up the ve...

After two weeks of running without juggling, I recently fell off the wagon, unable to resist the urge to joggle. Yesterday I joggled home from work at the peak of the lightning storm. It was insane and it rocked. And yes, my balls did get soggy. Dani, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I also saw...

Pretend the first one never happened. Blot it out of your memory. When your legs start to turn into Jell-O at 32K of the second marathon, repeat to yourself over and over: "I am invincible." I've used this strategy a few times.

The important thing is that I made it into the Coffee News, so I can retire now. I was going to say it's time to hang up the balls for good, but that sounds wrong on so many levels.

Am I missing something? It's May, that race was September... Gee, they must be really desperate for news down there. Wonder if you guys heard about Nixon yet? That is funny! Well, they're faster than the Guinness Book - they take about two years to get the records listed. I was also mentioned in th...

I've been taking it easy the past few weeks since the Salt Lake City Marathon, but now I'm ready to ramp up the training. 16K planned for after work. My friend Predrag, a fellow Reebok running team member, won the Mississauga Marathon in 2:23. Not bad for his marathon debut. Have a great Monday ever...

How about pushing an Amazon Parrot in the stroller ??

Guinness rules say you have to have a "living individual" in the stroller, so I'm thinking maybe an ant or an amoeba.

Reading through so many people's workouts always makes me feel guilty when I take a day off. But no guilt today; I'm running home from work with 6 x 2 min. intervals. Trying to get into good 5K shape.

All good things must come to an end. However, I am available if you want to try and recapture that record. We might need a course that's downhill since I weigh a bit more than a 20 month old, but I know you can do it. If I can learn to juggle, we might really be on to something. Fastest marathon pu...

Pram-pushing marathon record

Well, my daughter Annika and I enjoyed our three years as the world record holders for the "fastest time to run a marathon pushing a pram." The record was broken yesterday by U.S. marathoner Michael Wardian at the Frederick Marathon in Virginia. He pushed his 10-mont-old son Pierce across the line i...

My wife did a jump-rope course with Buddy Lee and got really into it. She got some fancy rope designed to do seven rotations per second or something crazy like that, with a thin cord like razor wire. I quickly discovered that you should not use this thing without shoes, because when you mistime a ju...

Always err of the side of less mileage. Just enough to keep the legs moving, the calories burning, your confidence high and to practise your race pace. I always do a little burst of short speedwork one or two days out to open up the glycogen window, then eat carbs right after to load up.

I use those super-thin Ultimax socks. Everything else gives me blosters. Sometimes they pop up randomly though and it's hard to get rid of them if you're running almost every day. Last year I ran Boston and Mississauga (about a month or so apart) wearing the same shoe/sock combo and under similar we...

As usual, you have all overwhelmed me with your responses. As was said recently: Viva Running Mania! What a treat to have other runners read about the race, as opposed to some of my non-running friends – you know the ones who say: "How long was this marathon, 5K?". Robbie, yes the Sport Juggling Co....
