Re: Run 30 100 milers in a year

Hey there. This is Scott Brockmeier of run30hundreds.blogspot.com. I just wanted say that you shouldn't count me out yet. I had an injury in March that kept me out for a month but by the end of June I'll have 14 100 milers despite that time off. Got my 11th this past weekend and I'm still on track ...

She's making good progress... Days 2 and 3 went well. I hope the rain holds off and thankfully it's not crazy hot.

Here's a link to Twitter updates.

Re: Sulphur Spring 100 Race Report (my 1st 100)

Great job nailing your first 100 miler and not getting emotionally wrecked! With that discipline you can go anywhere, sir. Beautifully executed plan, excellent pacing throughout the whole race.  Imagine how much time you'd shave off your finish time if you kept your aid station stops ev...

Re: Run 30 100 milers in a year

I still am waiting for Kinga to say that she will go for 31 100 milers next year......... :D Crazy is what crazy does.   First, though, wait for the announcement that I won the lottery. ;) Yeah, not sure I could run that much and the logistics would drive me crazy. I was reading thi...

Re: Run 30 100 milers in a year

Well, there's about 97 100 milers to choose from, according to Stan Jensen. Some of those events are defunct, some are brand new...

Re: Bruce Trail Speed Record: 2012 Attempt

Day 1 in the books... Good morning everyone Day 1 went well. Rainy conditions were a factor throughout the day and made the rock beaches in the Tobermory area slippery. Thanks to Wanda and Manuel for sharing stories and laughter on the tails. Through the moto - slow & steady - we completed the 8...

Run 30 100 milers in a year

I've been meaning to add this here... Liz Bauer, 53, is planning on running 30 100 milers this year and breaking Monica Scholz' record of 25 100 milers run in 2010. Liz just finished her 15th 100 at the end of May. She kicked off the year with HURT100 and I think she's got Hardrock on her agenda as ...

Re: Heed vs Perpetuem for Ultra Races

Same here. When it comes to hydration, I run my races on water, Lavasalt tablets and the occasional other drink at aid stations like coconut water, ginger ale, coke, Heed/Gatorade/eLoad... if the spirit moves me. I used to drink Heed and eload and such, but in the last couple of years I've switched ...

Re: Question about Limberlost Challenge

Limberlost is my favourite course in the whole Ontario Ultra Series, so I'm biased. :) It's the most scenic and has the best mix of dirt, pine needle trail, single track trails rolling along some gorgeous lakes and forests. I can't think of a better place to run a trail race. If you look at the prev...

Good job, Chris!
It's not easy figuring out nutrition and salts in the hot weather and most people end up struggling. Niagara will definitely be a hot one, so drink lots and watch the salts and the food. Good luck!

Congratulations to all, it looks like it was good race that I had to pull a plug on ( ankle issues ). I was asking if anyone knows places 1-5 as we trying to find out about a Windsor runner Denis Chenard. The last we heard was that he was 2nd after 4 laps ( 100 mile race ) . Since results are not u...

Re: tortoise vs Vermont Heat Wave

Good job toughing it out in the heat, ken! You're building your heat tolerance and it's good training for the rest of the summer and the next weekend. Ottawa is going to be a scorcher for sure, but by then you should be better at handling the heat. Nutrition during hot weather is a tough one to figu...

More trails for your bucks. I think they should just call it the Fifty-something K. Every year it's a different distance and badly measured.
I miss a good foot soaking run through a creek. Well done, Ron! See you at Sulphur.

OK the waterproof stuff is actually "KT Tape Pro". I'm not sure if that means they aren't selling the old stuff. On the website ad they claim "7 days and still going" including showering etc. I never get more than a day out of the old stuff: http://www.kttape.com/" onclick="wind...

Re: Taping toes

There is new kinesio-tape that is much more waterproof than the old stuff- maybe that will work better? Do you know the brand? Any links would be greatly appreciated. Re: Taping toes

No I don't really understand what you are trying to say. The smaller arch wraps around the base of the pinky. I start gluing the tape at the top and wrap it around the toe from outside towards the inside. I have KT. I need to order the tincture of benzoate. I have started practicing with the taping...

Still not too late to do some heat training. Turn those heaters on in the car, run with an extra layer, hit the sauna, run at noon. And repeat to yourself "this is good training... this is good training... this is good training... this is good training..."

Re: Sulphur Springs Trail Run

In other news... The Bog around the 12 km mark has been fixed. There is basically a raised gravel path that goes through the grassy area. Some people will not even recognize that section! I can't say I'm a fan of the gravel road they put there... I wish the conservation authority had just closed the...

Re: Night run at Sulphur, Friday May 18th

We had a good run on friday night. The weather was great. The trails are in the best shape I've seen them in a long time, though some sections are very dry and hard, but I guess that's better than ankle-deep mud. ;) Even if we get a few showers next week, the trails are still going to be great and t...
