Re: Tailwind Thursday
I had a nice fresh breeze and bright sun for my run today near Minneapolis, MN. It was a beautiful run on a park path, all to myself, with many birds singing all the way. The crabapple, wild cherry, lilacs, and trees I cannot name are all in bloom and the air is full of their perfume. I ran about 45...

Re: Monday sun day
No sun here, and in fact it snowed a little. Ugh. Spent day getting ready for my trip to visit my sister in Minnesota, but I may yet get in a little run.
Little 30 min run done. I swear it was still lightly snowing. Brr

Lawful Sunday
While I was walking home from my little 30 minute run today, a police car pulled up beside me. The two officers inside gave me a description of a young man for whom they were searching. I'm afraid I wasn't much help! This is the second time I've been stopped on one of my runs by police who are on th...

My goodness, what a wonderful adventure you had. You wrote such a vivid and thrilling report that I could just imagine your joy at the end of the race. Oh, so very well done, Ms. Melonhed. Congratulations!

Yeah....they just write journals about it on RM  The journals aren't for bragging, and if you think they are then you need to re-read them (maybe take off your judgy glasses first). +1 I love reading the journals. It has nothing to do with bragging, but being happy to see the fruit of their l...

Songful Sunday
I have one of our choir concerts this afternoon, and before that, a family birthday celebration. I'll be doing more singing than running, but I hope you other Maniacs get out there and have a great run. It's a beautiful sunny day here in Québec, finally!

Re: Garden Tuesday
Still a little too early to clean up my garden, the ground needs to dry and firm up a bit first, lest I pull up the good plant roots. Just a very short run/walk for me today; the knee is touchy.

Gorgeous, perfect sunny spring day here, but no running for me. Resting and icing my ankle; it does feel better. Maybe the sprain won't last too long. Have a great weekend, all you Maniacs!

Yes it was toasty here (22 degrees, up from 2 degrees on Saturday). I was hot running, not used to that. Easy 35 minutes in the 'hood.

Re: New shoes & Shin Spints
Glad you found some relief. Hills/inclines can be really hard on your shins and calves. Once the pain has settled down completely, it will be a good time to continue your quest for comfy shoes. (I'm about to go shoe shopping myself. ) Happy running, and congrats on the weight loss.

Sorry about the cold, toobusy. It's gorgeous here, but I need a rest day from running. Will get out there, though, to start raking all the road gravel off the edges of our front yard.

Re: New shoes & Shin Spints
First, welcome to Running Mania! You did indeed post in the correct place. If I understand your post above, you returned to running this past November, but the shin pain just began recently? Have you changed anything in your workout routine recently (besides the shoes)? Shin splints sometimes result...

Not so l-o-o-o-n-g by most peoples' standards, but the longest run for me in about 3 months: 34 minutes.

Re: Ottawa treatment for crackly knees?
Welcome to Running Mania! I'm 20 years older than you, and my knees crack all the time. I have one iffy knee and one perfectly good knee, and they both crackle the same amount. The noises don't correspond to any pain, either. I try not to listen to them.

It's another dreary weather day in the Eastern Townships. I had rain and ice pellets during this morning's 30 minutes, but my knee felt very well, so it was a nice run.

Looked like a blanking Christmas card out there today, with the heavy wet snow. Not so great for the end of March. Almost 4k done; knee continues to be holding up well.

Re: Feeling blah when running - is there a better way?
Shamus, your last post brought tears to my eyes. I am so sorry that other runners have felt the need to bully you about your feelings, and made you feel like you don't belong just because you were courageous enough to express your self-doubts. I hope we at Running Mania can do better for you. Someti...
